TLFG: 14-21 April 2025

Greetings one and all and welcome to this delayed Easter Special.

As followers on X may have noticed, norovirus ripped through TLFG Towers over the weekend with, at times, quite spectacular consequences.

After an enjoyable visit to Bath on Friday, one of my daughters erupted all over a train from Bristol to Tiverton on Saturday lunchtime and I suffered the same unpleasantries about 36 hours later but fortunately back on home turf.

Between these bouts, I still managed to squeeze in a bit of very low level non-league football as I watched some of Hemyock's 3-2 loss to Elmore in the Devon & District League on Saturday afternoon - all in the name of occupying daughter number two whilst the other was chucking up.

With our recoveries now pretty much complete, I've finally had a chance to get the match maps together for one of the busiest weekends of the football calendar.

The Unity Cup is coming to Brentford

I'll be updating as the days go along, as league tables will change on an almost daily basis.

For the groundhoppers among you, the Easter weekend from Friday to Monday offers you an absolute feast of football with games happening every day, many with staggered kick-off times which should allow you to see at least two on most days.

Typically, I'm working the whole time so won't get to see any of it!

I hope you're luckier and take full advantage of the fantastic selection on offer.

PS - it was announced last week that an exciting international mini tournament is being hosted by Brentford at the end of May.

The Unity Cup will see Jamaica take on Trinidad & Tobago and Ghana play Nigeria before a final on 31 May - tickets have just gone on sale.

 THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include games in the Conference League, Premier League, EFL, National League, Women's Champions League, Women's Super League and lots of other games featuring our local non-league and women's clubs.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

Details on all of this week's games can be found on the following match maps. If you've never used them before, please note that when there is more than one match at a specific ground you'll only be able to see individual match pins if you zoom right in. If you don't, the pins obscure each other and you might miss them. To avoid this, you can also scroll down the list of games on the drop down menu at the top of the map page to make sure you get all the information. Games are listed from top to bottom in date order so Monday's games (yellow pin) will appear first and Sunday's (orange pin) last. Games are also ranked in terms of status so the higher the division, the higher up the list they will appear on each day.
Also if you're unfamiliar with the English league structure I indicate the level at which an individual league sits in the national 'pyramid' with the Premier League at the top (Level 1) and various minor leagues at the bottom (Level 10). Typically a top level game will see crowds of anywhere between 20,000-60,000. These figures will gradually decline as you go down the leagues until you get to Levels 8-10 where attendances of 150 or less are most common.

It should also be noted that the top four levels are for fully professional teams. Level 5 has a mixture of professional and semi-professional teams, while Levels 6-10 will see most players paid but it will vary from no more than travel expenses at the bottom, right up to several hundred pounds a week at the top.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Tuesday 15 April

Women's Super League
Arsenal v Leicester City @730pm - the biggest crowd of the day will be found at the Emirates Stadium where the Gunners look to keep their faint title hopes alive. Second and six points behind leaders Chelsea with four games to go, it looks like making sure of the runners-up spot is a more likely target. Down in 10th, Leicester's season looks to be more or less over as they're seven points clear of the relegation zone. Tickets

London Senior Cup Semi-Finals
Brentford B v Barking @745pm - since they began entering development sides in this competition, the Bees have made three of the last six finals. Last winning it in 2022 when they edged past Hendon on penalties, they're arguably the strongest side left. Their chances of making the final look great too as they've drawn the lowest-ranked side at home. Barking, who play in the ninth tier, have had a great season and have already booked a spot in the Essex Senior League play-offs but you feel a trip to Wheatsheaf Lane should be too much for them. Tickets
Hanwell Town v Dulwich Hamlet @745pm - with 14 trips to the final between them, these clubs have quite a history in this cup. However, neither of them have won it for over 20 years. Both in the seventh tier, the hosts are in better form and start as favourites for me. Tickets

Isthmian League South Central
Hanworth Villa v Ascot United @745pm - with only five points between the clubs in the third and eighth, the play-off race in this division is tight. And yes, you guessed it, these two are both in that group. Hanworth are in better form and have Paul Merson's Sam banging in the goals (23 this season). Even more importantly, this game was originally played on 29 March but was abandoned when Ascot fan Paul Sarin fell ill and passed away. All profits from the gate receipts will be donated to his family. Tickets are £11 on the gate

CCL Premier South
Abbey Rangers v Jersey Bulls @745pm - one of the tightest title races in the country is to be found in this ninth-tier division. There are currently four points between the top three but the sides in second and third have a game in hand. Jersey are second and will move level on points with leaders Redhill if they win at midtable Abbey who play in Addlestone. I haven't seen ticket prices published anywhere but it should be around the £8 mark

SCFL Division 1
Chessington & Hook United v Worthing United @745pm - in recent years, Chessington have been moved over to the SCFL which is primarily made up of clubs in Sussex. They've pottered along and haven't drawn much attention. That has been the case for most of this season too (I can't remember mentioning them once) but over the last few weeks they've put a great run of results together and now only goal difference is keeping them out of the play-off places. Here they play the team who are just ahead of them so it's huge for both. Tickets are £6 on the gate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 16 April

SSML Premier
London Lions v FC Romania @8pm - the hosts are the capital's top club for Jewish players. They've had a fine season in this ninth-tier division and will all-but secure a play-off place if they win here. The visitors have really struggled over the last couple of years and badly need the points to avoid another relegation. I'm not certain of admission prices but you shouldn't be paying more than £8 at this level

MCFL Premier
Camden & Islington United v Pitshanger Dynamo @745pm - the hosts, who play at the New River Stadium in Haringey, are top of this 11th-tier division with four games to go. In a title race with SL Benfica, Stonewall FC and at a push Hayes & Hillingdon, every point will be crucial from now on. Here they play last season's champions who must have lost most of their squad over the summer as they're now bottom and well adrift. If there is an admission price, it shouldn't exceed £5
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 17 April

UEFA Conference League Quarter-Final
Chelsea v Legia Warsaw @8pm - the Blues are the overwhelming favourites to win this competition and they come into this second leg with a commanding 3-0 lead. The visitors are fifth in the Polish league and lost at home to Jagiellonia Bialystock in the run up to this game. A place in the semi-finals looks a certainty for Chelsea. Tickets

TLFG: 7-13 April 2025

Greetings one and all and welcome to this week's TLFG.

The highlight of my week was taking part in the 15th staging of QPR's Tiger Feet Walk.

Regular readers will know that I co-founded this event with Chris Charles back in 2010 to raise funds for the R's sports club for children with Down's syndrome.

Initially we always used to walk to away games around London but in more recent years, it now goes from the club's training ground to Loftus Road in time for a home game.

This year it was ahead of the big match with fellow strugglers Cardiff City.

After an early start I walked round to QPR's stadium where a minibus met a few of us at 7am and drove us to Heston.

Taking about half an hour, we were met and taken on a quick tour of the facilities.

Walkers gradually arrived over the next hour or so and then over 70 of us set off on our odyssey around London in glorious sunshine.

Over the course of the journey I had a chat with club legend and former England player Andy Sinton, rubbed shoulders with former CEO Lee Hoos who always takes part and chatted to a wide variety of fans, club officials and also some of the Tiger Cubs themselves who did superbly well to complete the near-19km course.

Over 70 people took part in Saturday's charity walk

For the last mile or so, we were joined by fan favourite Koki Saito and several of the U21 team.

Finally arriving at the Fan Zone next to Hammersmith Park, we were given a hero's welcome by the assembled crowd.

My family joined for the final stretch too and even though I had a complimentary ticket for the match, I actually chose to spend the afternoon with them, slipping away unnoticed while the others made their way to the stadium for a pre-game photo on the pitch.

With a fundraising target of £25,000 about to be reached, it seems to have been a success once again.

In other news, German TLFG reader Christoph B, who has made several appearances here, got in touch and invited me to join him at the Women's Euros in Switzerland in July.

Converted to the joys of women's football after watching Chelsea play Arsenal on a trip to London last year, he's snapped up quite a few tickets for the tournament which is taking place just across the border from Freiburg where he lives.

I'm going to the hosts' opening game against Norway in Basel on day one of the tournament which should be a great experience.

As for live football this week - I managed to squeeze in a game today (Sunday).

Having finished work unexpectedly early, I popped down to the Griffin Sports Ground in the posh surrounds of Dulwich Village to watch Actonians 3rd XI play their final match of the season against Kenningwell United.

Being the only A's squad in action, they were able to draft in a few players from the 2nd XI to improve their chances.

One of them, Shadia Edwards-Dashti scored in the opening minutes but rather than run away with it, they had to scrap hard and didn't secure the win until the second half when Kirsty Bradley scored another to make it 2-1.

So with a win and another ground ticked off on Futbology, the week came to a very satisfactory end.

Lastly, kudos to TLFG reader Liam B who completed the Two Oceans ultra marathon in Cape Town on Saturday and then ran another half marathon there today - what a nutter!

Anyway, I think that's it from me - have a great week.

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include games in the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, EFL, EFL Trophy, National League, Women's Super League and lots of other games featuring our local non-league and women's clubs.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 7 April

Premier League 2
The week begins with a couple of games in this U21 competition. Arsenal host Derby County at Boreham Wood, whilst Fulham take on Manchester City in a top-two clash at Motspur Park. Both games start at 7pm. Admission prices vary but are never more than £5

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 8 April

UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final first leg
Arsenal v Real Madrid @8pm - after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, the Gunners face a big step up in class as 15-time European champions Real Madrid pay a visit to north London. Far and away the most successful team in this competition's history, the Spanish giants are on course to successfully defend their crown again. However, their La Liga title hopes suffered a blow this weekend when they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss at home to a struggling Valencia side. Interestingly, the sides have only met once before back in 2006. On that occasion, it was Arsenal who won 1-0 over two legs and eventually went on to make the final. It'll be hard to replicate that this year but not impossible. Tickets are only available by resale to members and hospitality packages are well over £1,000 per person

Championship
Watford v Hull City @745pm - for those of you on a more normal budget, then this is the next best option. With only one win from six games, the Hornets' form has left them at the most inopportune time. Seven points adrift of the play-offs with six games to go, it's possible for them to get back into the top six but a lot has to go their way. For the Tigers, it's all about avoiding the drop. An injury-time goal saw them record a hugely important 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday to go three points clear of the bottom three. Tickets

National League
Sutton United v Rochdale @3pm - despite having little to play for, the U's fought to the end against promotion hopefuls Southend and nicked a last-gasp equaliser. The result made sure the Essex club failed to break into the top seven. The main beneficiaries of this appear to be Rochdale who remain seventh after playing in the FA Trophy. Sadly, their hopes of reaching Wembley were dashed as they fell to lower league Spennymoor on penalties. Now their focus is solely on securing a play-off spot and they badly need to win here. Tickets

Southern League Division 1 Central
Northwood v Thame United @745pm - there's a game affecting both ends of the table in this eighth-tier division on Tuesday. Having seen manager Gary Meakin resign, the relegation-threatened hosts appointed Jack Smith as interim boss. With seven points from four games, things have begun very positively but they're still in the bottom three on goal difference. Thame occupy the final play-off place and need to win to prevent Hadley catching them. Tickets are £10 on the gate

CCL Premier South
Spelthorne Sports v AFC Whyteleafe @745pm - after a very challenging season, I'm sad to say that The Spelly have already been relegated so have little to play for here. This match is more about celebrating the fantastic achievements of The Leafe who only began life in 2021 following the original Whyteleafe's demise. Since then, they've enjoyed two promotions and on Saturday they won their FA Vase semi-final to secure a trip to Wembley. Not only that, but they're also very much up for promotion again. Currently third, a win here will put them one point behind the leaders with two games to go. Tickets will be available on the gate for £8
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 9 April

SCEFL Premier Division
Sutton Athletic v Lordswood @745pm - despite having several games in hand, the hosts' promotion hopes look to be over. In fact they're actually closer to the relegation zone so really need to focus on getting well clear of that before anything else. The visitors are bottom and six points adrift of safety but with two games in hand of their own, they're not dead and buried yet. Tickets will be available on the gate for £8

CCL Division 1
Westside v Brook House @730pm - it looked as if Windsor & Eton would finally be crowned champions on Saturday but they lost 1-0 at Brook House to keep Westside in the title race - just. The club with the smallest crowds in the division (average 23) have had an amazing campaign but trail the leaders by 11 points with four games to go. In other words, they have to win here or it's the play-offs. The Brook have had a great week, beating Windsor on Saturday and winning the Middlesex Premier Cup last Wednesday - mathematically they could still crash the top five too so there's plenty to play for.  Tickets will be available on the gate, not sure of the price but it shouldn't exceed £8

L&SE Women's League Premier
Sutton United v Fulham @745pm - like the men's team, Sutton's women have had a pretty unremarkable campaign and will have to settle for a midtable finish. They can make a big impact on the title race here though as the Cottagers are looking to take another stride towards the title they have been favoured to win for most of the season. Currently seven points behind leaders Dartford in second, they have four games in hand. Tickets are £5
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 10 April

UEFA Europa League Quarter-Final first leg
Tottenham Hotspur v Eintracht Frankfurt @8pm - there was only a point between Spurs and their German opponents as they finished fourth and fifth in the group stage. However, although doing well in European competition, the sides have experienced very different league campaigns. Tottenham would have ended the weekend in 16th if they hadn't beaten and relegated Southampton whilst Frankfurt are third in the Bundesliga and fighting for a Champions League place. The visitors also won this competition in 2022 so know what it takes to get the job done. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality packages are available from £249

FA Youth Cup Semi-Final
Watford v Manchester City @7pm - can't get into the game above? Do not fear, this big U18 game should be a fine alternative way to spend your evening. It's fair to say that the Hornets have created a bit of a stir by getting this far. Not in the elite U18 Premier League, the Hertfordshire club have beaten Oxford United, Crewe Alexandra, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton to get this far. Here they face the top youth side in the country and it will take a Herculean effort for them to prevail. The match is being played at Vicarage Road and the winners will play Aston Villa in the final. Tickets

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 11 April

Professional Development League
Four teams are in action in this U21 competition on Friday lunchtime with Watford playing Peterborough United at 1pm at Vicarage Road and QPR hosting Charlton Athletic at the club's training ground in Heston at 2pm. Check with the club on the day what the admission procedure is - it's often free entry but you have to register in advance

Essex Senior League
Romford v Barking @745pm - the early kick-offs above mean it's really easy to see two games on Friday and the next on my list would be this groundshare derby in the ninth tier. On this occasion it's tenants versus landlords at Mayesbrook Park. Romford's season is effectively over, with a seventh-place finish the best they can hope for. Barking, on the other hand, have already secured a play-off place so it's now all about creating some good momentum ahead of the post-season. Tickets are £8 on the gate

ECL Division 1 South
Barkingside v Hackney Wick @745pm - staying on the east side of town, there's a hugely important game in 10th tier. The 'Side are battling the drop with only goal difference keeping them in the bottom three. With four games to go, they've got a good chance. However, here they welcome a side who need every point they can get to win the title. Locked in a two-horse race with Harlow Town, who are two points behind with three games to go, a win here could be pivotal. Tickets are £7 on the gate
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 12 April

Premier League
Arsenal v Brentford @530pm - there's only one game in the top flight on Saturday but it's a derby. Much was made of the Gunners' superb 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek and they'll need to work hard to avoid complacency coming into this one. The Bees held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw last weekend and are exactly the sort of side to hand Mikel Arteta's team a big reality check if they're not on their game. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality packages are available from £675

Championship
Millwall v Middlesbrough @3pm - with five games to go, the Lions are still in with a chance of the play-offs. Five points adrift, this match against one of their main rivals for a place in the top six is huge. Boro's season has ebbed and flowed, like most teams in this division, but they come into this in seventh. They've also won three of their last four against Millwall but I'm sure they'd take a point on this occasion. Tickets
QPR v Bristol City @3pm - the R's recorded a hugely important 3-1 win at Oxford United on Wednesday to put themselves seven points clear of the relegation zone with five games to go. Now with only one defeat in four, their bad form seems to be getting a little better. It's going to face a stiff challenge here though as the Robins are fifth and desperately trying to keep hold of one of those play-off places. Although Bristol is over 100 miles west of Shepherds Bush, these games almost have a derby vibe to them as the journey is quick and City usually always sell out their allocation creating a great atmosphere. Tickets

National League
Barnet v Wealdstone @1230pm - if you want a fiery local derby then this one in the fifth tier certainly meets that description. There's no love lost between these two, with the Stones' fans holding quite a grudge against the Bees (something which primarily stems from the ownership of The Hive). From a purely footballing point of view, there's a lot riding on this too. The Bees could all-but win the title with a victory here, potentially going 11 points clear with four games to go. Whilst the Stones could go a long way to retaining their place in the division. Tickets

National League South
Boreham Wood v Hemel Hempstead Town @3pm - all three games in this division have something riding on them but this is my pick in the sixth tier. Much has been made of the thrilling title race in this division and with four games remaining, there is only eight points between the top eight. The Wood are sixth and primarily focused on keeping hold of their play-off spot. Here they face a Hertfordshire derby against a local rival who would no doubt love to scupper their chances of going up. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Hashtag United v Cray Valley PM @3pm - there may well be a bigger crowd and better atmosphere at Carshalton but in when it comes to tension on the pitch, then there should be more of it here. In this division, the top team goes up automatically while the next four play-off. CVPM are currently fifth, six points clear of the Tags in seventh. With four games to go, the hosts really have to win or their season will pretty much be over. This is being played at Aveley and tickets are £12 on the gate

Isthmian League South Central
Ashford Town (Middlesex) v Moneyfields @3pm - for me, the biggest story of the day in this division is the long awaited re-opening of the Robert Parker Stadium following the installation of a new 3G pitch. To say the process has been problematic would be an understatement. This has seen the men play most of their games at Cobham, and with very little revenue coming in, finances have been badly hit. The fact that Luke Tuffs has kept his side in contention to avoid relegation is nothing short of miraculous - if they win here they could climb out of the bottom four. The visitors, however, are still in contention for a play-off spot and they shouldn't be in the mood to be charitable. From your point of view, the biggest thing to note is that it's FREE ENTRY for everyone!

Essex Senior League
Buckhurst Hill v Woodford Town @3pm - in the ninth tier it's time for the latest installment of the Roding Valley Derby. A fairly new creation, these two local clubs have tried to generate a bit of interest around these games which take place on the north-east side of town. The hosts got a bumper crowd of over 400 on Non-League Day three weeks ago and it would be great if they got anywhere near that again. They're assured of a comfortable midtable finish but Woodford can still claim second and will want to build momentum going into the play-offs. Tickets are £8 on the gate

CCL Division 1
Hillingdon Borough v Eversley & California @3pm - the 10th tier is full of important games on Saturday so it's been really hard to pick one. I've gone for this as it features two teams who sit either side of the play-off line. Although the visitors hold a four-point advantage, Hillingdon have a game in hand and still have a total of five games to play. Win this and they'll be firmly in contention. Tickets are £6 on the gate

Women's FA Cup Semi-Final
Chelsea v Liverpool @1215pm - semi-finals aren't played at Wembley or neutral venues in the Women's FA Cup, so five-time winners Chelsea have a big advantage. On paper, Sonia Bompastor's side will start as very strong favourites against a midtable opponent who've lost their last two and haven't been to the final for nearly 30 years. Tickets
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 13 April

Premier League
Chelsea v Ipswich Town @2pm - one major by-product of Arsenal's win over Real Madrid was the improvement of England's UEFA coefficient and a fifth place in next season's Champions League. One of the possible beneficiaries of this are the Blues who have been floating around the top seven for most of the season. Currently fourth, they should pick up three points here as the Tractor Boys are in real trouble. The Suffolk club blew a half-time lead against Wolves in their big six-pointer last weekend, to suffer a crushing 2-1 defeat which effectively condemned them to relegation. Now 12 points adrift with seven games to go, a season in the Championship looks almost certain. Tickets

EFL Trophy Final
Birmingham City v Peterborough United @3pm - having sealed promotion at Peterborough on Tuesday, the Blues face them again in this Wembley final. Following some big investment in the summer, the Midlands club have had a season to savour and will be strong favourites to end the day with some silverware here. Tickets for the Birmingham end have sold out and although some are still available from Posh, you've got to prove you're a fan as Bluenoses have been trying to buy from their allocation too

FAWNL Southern Premier
Hashtag United v Exeter City @3pm - the Tags looked like they were going to have to settle for second until Watford popped up and beat leaders Ipswich last weekend. Although the title is still the Tractor Girls' to lose, they've opened up a window of opportunity to their rivals. Mathematically, Exeter still have a chance of winning too but they will need possibly the biggest miracle in football history to become champions as their goal difference is vastly inferior. This is being played at Aveley and tickets are £5 on the gate

FAWNL Division 1 South East
QPR v Cambridge United @2pm - both clubs have little to play for but as it's their final home game of the season against another 'EFL name', the R's have switched this game to Loftus Road to try and bolster the interest in their women's team. Tickets

L&SE Women's League Premier
Dartford v Saltdean United @130pm - only the top team win promotion at this level and three teams are currently in with a shout. Fulham are most people's favourites but the other two contenders meet here knowing a win is essential. Tickets are £5

TLFG: 31 March - 6 April 2025

Greetings everyone - I'm back!

After the hectic schedule of the last two weeks, I'm pleased to say I'm back in business.

Non-League Day (NLD) produced even more of a whirlwind than normal.

The run-up to the event saw South Western Railway, my employers and NLD partners, provide me with my own PR team which was a surreal experience.

Starting days with a briefing on the interviews they'd booked, I was advised what questions would come up and what I could and couldn't say.

They would then sit in on all of them and debrief me afterwards.

Thursday to Saturday (20-22 March) was particularly busy, squeezing everything around work and family.

Yours truly with Stuart Pearce and the PL Trophy

I made numerous appearances on Talksport, BBC Radio 5 live, LBC and lots of regional radio stations.

Interview requests were so numerous that other members of my team also had to pick up slots on the likes of Capital and Smooth.

There was some great newspaper and online coverage too from the Mirror and Sunday Times and my name even appeared in a great article by Forbes.

The Premier League are hugely important in promoting the day and their support was better than ever.

On the day itself, I met Matt from their team at Liverpool Street and we headed out to Benfleet in Essex for the first stop on the Essex Senior League groundhop.

Arriving at the ground around 1030, we'd arranged for the Premier League trophy to make an appearance so fans could have their photos taken with it.

With the trophy on its plinth next to the pitch, I turned around to see a queue of hundreds had suddenly appeared out of nowhere!

With the gates open, an orderly procession of locals had their pictures taken with one of the most prestigious pieces of football silverware in the world.

A few minutes later, England legend Stuart Pearce arrived.

Despite recently suffering health issues on a transatlantic flight, the former Nottingham Forest full-back insisted on coming and did us proud.

He joined the trophy and spent ages happily posing for photos and signing autographs for seemingly everyone in Benfleet!

The game itself, against bottom club Clacton, kicked off at midday and shortly after, Stuart and myself did a live video interview with Talksport through Matt's iPhone - it's amazing what you can do with hand-held technology these days!

With half-time approaching, the crowd was announced as 702 which was 279.5% above average - clearly demonstrating the power of NLD and the Premier League trophy! I think it was also the highest crowd anywhere in the Essex Senior League all season.

I had to leave at half-time to get back to east London for my second game whilst Stuart, Matt and the trophy headed off to their second game at Buckhurst Hill.

Clapton CFC took on Croydon in my second game

Thankfully I had a good journey, with my Spanish taxi driver back to the station saying he'd never seen Benfleet's car park so busy - he knew about the event after his child's school had received an email. He was also impressed to hear about Athletic Bilbao's involvement too.

Getting to Plaistow about 145pm, I met a friend and walked up to the Old Spotted Dog to watch the Clapton CFC game against Croydon.

CCFC are one of the best supported clubs in the 10th tier and they'd understandably kept their advertising of NLD to a minimum so they could safely accommodate what was expected to be a big crowd.

With building works going on, capacity had been reduced and they officially announced that numbers would be limited to 850 on a first come, first served basis.

We therefore got there early. Luckily we had no issues and with our £5 paid and a donation made to the hygiene bank, we were in.

I was supposed to do another interview for Talksport but they kept me on hold for 20 minutes and my battery ran out.

Before kick-off, a few more friends, including TLFG readers Liam and Nils, turned up and we were all in safely.

The match between two sides fighting for a play-off place was understandably tight and it ultimately ended 1-1.

Although it wasn't the most thrilling of games, the atmosphere was great.

With plenty of room available, the club let a few more people in and the eventual attendance of 952 was the highest anywhere in the country at that level.

One friend who hadn't been before, found it to be quite a moving experience - CCFC have a very left-wing and inclusive fanbase and he felt he'd found a home of sorts.

Others spent decent money on scarves and shirts, not to mention drinks and a fun afternoon was had by all as some early spring sunshine graced proceedings.

There was even time for a cheeky kickabout on the pitch at the end before we were advised this was primarily intended for kids - oops.

With a warm feeling inside, I headed home whilst Mr Pearce and the Premier League trophy continued on to a 745pm game at Takeley where he turned on the club's new floodlights in front of another bumper crowd of nearly 600 fans.

I concluded the day by calling into 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live who were asking for people's NLD experiences.

Expressed to the front of the queue, I was warmly welcomed to the show and followed Robbie Savage who'd just called in after leading Macclesfield to the NPL title.

It was also a great day for Prostate Cancer UK

All in all it was quite a day - definitely the biggest and best NLD so far.

We saw a total attendance across Steps 1-6 of just under 200,000 with 139 of 163 games at the top level posting above average crowds - 10 clubs saw increases of over 100%.

All six clubs who partnered with Athletic Bilbao saw their crowds go up significantly with Sheppey United in Kent seeing theirs go up by 80%.

Prostate Cancer UK also did really well for publicity and fundraising - a final figure isn't in yet but clubs in the Essex Senior League were pushing £10,000 on their own which is huge.

Now for a well-earned break.

However, I've started dreaming about what we can achieve next year and some of the new partners we could target.

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include games in the Premier League, EFL, National League, Women's National League and lots of other games featuring our local non-league and women's clubs.

Monday 31 March

Professional Development League
The week begins with a couple of U21 games. Brentford continue their quest for top spot in Group South with a game against Fleetwood Town at their facility in Staines (1pm - tickets) whilst Watford host Coventry City at Vicarage Road (2pm - tickets)

Surrey Senior Cup Quarter-Final
Carshalton Athletic v Kingstonian @745pm - this competition began in 1882-83 and since then, these sides have been to 25 finals between them. The K's are currently fourth in the all-time rankings but they now play a level below the Robins and haven't won it since 2006. On paper, the hosts should win. The winners face a tough trip to Dorking Wanderers in the semi-finals. Tickets are £11 online and £12 on the gate

ECL Division 1 South
Barkingside v Southend Manor @745pm - in the 10th tier there's a huge relegation six-pointer. The 'Side begin the game in the bottom three but they're on level points with Southend who are just above them on goal difference. The hosts also have a game in hand. To try and boost attendance for this big game, you'll get in for free if you turn up with a copy of local newspaper the Ilford Recorder

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 1 April

Premier League
Arsenal v Fulham @745pm - with only two wins from five, the Premier League title has seemingly slipped out of the Gunners' reach again and a third consecutive second-place finish looks likely. Nottingham Forest are still hot their heels though so they can't relax just yet. The Cottagers are in the top eight themselves and in marginally better league form than Arsenal but arrive in north London on the back of a comprehensive and very disappointing home loss to Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Although Fulham are unbeaten in three against Arsenal, they have never won an away game against the Islington club - ever!!! Tickets are only available to members but hospitality packages are available from £465

National League
Wealdstone v Boston United @745pm - as we approach the end of the season, the big games keep coming. We've got another relegation six-pointer at Grosvenor Vale in Ruislip where two sides battle for their place in the fifth tier. With seven games to go, the Stones are fourth from bottom and just one point from safety. The Pilgrims are the team they have to catch but the Lincolnshire club have spectacularly turned their form around in recent weeks, taking 20 points from their last nine games to pull themselves out of the relegation zone - only leaders Barnet are in better form. Tickets

Isthmian League South East
Beckenham Town v Phoenix Sports @745pm - the hosts' play-off hopes received a knock on Saturday as they lost to leaders Ramsgate. Now eight points adrift of the top five but with two games in hand, they can't afford to lose many more. Here they welcome another south-east London club who are in desperate need of points to avoid the drop. Five points adrift of safety with a game in hand, they really need to get something too. Tickets are £10 on the gate

CCL Division 1
Hillingdon Borough v Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) @745pm - with seven games to go, the hosts begin their final assault on the play-off places. Currently sixth and three points adrift of the all-important top five, they have a game in hand and a win here could put them firmly in business. The visitors are towards the wrong end of the table but they have a six-point cushion over the bottom three. Tickets are £6 on the gate

Professional Development League
There are also a good selection of U21 games too. Charlton Athletic host Group North leaders Sheffield United at The Valley (2pm - tickets). Over at The Den, Group South title contenders Millwall take on Barnsley (2pm - tickets) and lastly, QPR host Birmingham City at Hayes & Yeading United at 7pm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 2 April

SCEFL Premier Division
Sutton Athletic v Punjab United @745pm - down in 13th, at first glance the season looks over for Sutton. However, they have five games in hand which if won would put them back in play-off contention. To have any chance, they really have to beat Punjab who are fifth and occupy the last of those coveted places. Tickets are £8 on the gate

SCEFL Division 1
SOUL Tower Hamlets v Forest Hill Park @745pm - there's a whopper of a game at Mile End Stadium where fifth hosts first. With seven games to go, Tower Hamlets are only a point ahead of Sheppey Sports so simply have to keep winning to stay in the play-off places. The pressure is also on FHP. Five points clear at the top, second place Faversham Strike Force have a game in hand so a defeat here could make things a lot tighter. Not sure of ticket prices but it shouldn't exceed £8

ECL Division 1 South
AS London v Coggeshall Town @745pm - playing across the road from Haringey Borough at the New River Sports Centre, the hosts' main priority now is securing a play-off spot. With games in hand on all around them, it's looking promising. Coggeshall are eighth but have the games in hand to put them in the top five as well so there's plenty to play for here. Tickets are £8 on the gate

Middlesex Premier Cup Final
Brook House v Civil Service @745pm - a decent piece of silverware is up for grabs at Hanwell Town's ground on Wednesday. Brook House are the defending champions. They play in the 10th tier Combined Counties League Division 1 but it's hard to know if they'll start as favourites as they're up against a side from the amateur leagues who exist in a parallel system outside the pyramid. What we do know is that Civil Service, who are based in Chiswick, are one of the oldest clubs in the world having been formed in 1863. Tickets are £8
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 3 April

Premier League
Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur @8pm - the Blues are firmly in the race for a top-four finish but it's tight with Manchester City, Newcastle and Brighton all breathing down their necks. By the time this kicks-off, they could be down in seventh. Spurs are way down in 14th with little to play for other than derby bragging rights. They've also won only one of their last 16 games in all competitions against the Stamford Bridge club so it's not looking very promising for the north Londoners. Tickets

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 4 April

Premier League 2
The pick of the action on Friday is in this U21 competition with Chelsea hosting Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge (7pm - tickets). If you're on the east side of town, West Ham United take on Crystal Palace at the club's Rush Green facility (7pm - entry is £5 on the gate)

SCFL Premier Division
Lingfield v Shoreham @8pm - with the Lingers now groundsharing at AFC Whyteleafe, we've got a bonus game in this ninth-tier division. It's an important one too as these sides fight to beat the drop. Lingfield are five points above the relegation zone with six games to go whilst Shoreham are in the bottom two but only on goal difference. Tickets are usually £5 on the gate
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 5 April

Premier League
Crystal Palace v Brighton & Hove Albion @3pm - although several clubs are geographically closer, the Eagles' rivalry with the Seagulls is arguably their fiercest. As such, it's quite strange to see the game being played at 3pm on a Saturday. The historical head-to-head between the two is very close but it was Palace who won the return fixture 3-1 in December. Brighton are ahead in the league table but the hosts are in better form and, for me, will start as marginal favourites. If any tickets are left, you'll have to be a member to get one
West Ham United v AFC Bournemouth @3pm - winless in three, the Hammers have little to play for and really just need to get this season over. The Cherries were having the season of their lives, challenging for a top-four finish but five games without victory in the league has seen them slip to 10th. With eight games to go, a place in Europe is still up for grabs. On paper, you'd think the Dorset club will win but it's eight games since they last beat West Ham. Tickets

Championship
Millwall v Portsmouth @3pm - the Lions are 11 points clear of the bottom three with seven games to go, so relegation would seem to have been avoided. Although 13th, a play-off place is still within reach but with a six-point gap to make up and so many teams also in the race, they can't afford to lose many more. Pompey are 17th and need a couple of wins to make sure they stay up. Any games in London pretty much count as derbies for Portsmouth and they've sold out their allocation. With two of the 'liveliest' sets of fans in the division, the atmosphere should be decent. Tickets
QPR v Cardiff City @3pm - winless since thrashing Derby on Valentine's Day, the R's have been drawn back into the battle to avoid relegation. Although still 15th, the gap between themselves and 22nd placed Cardiff is only five points. With four points from their last two games, the Bluebirds head to Loftus Road in better form for what has become a really important game for both. Tickets

League One
Charlton Athletic v Lincoln City @3pm - with only two defeats in 10, the Addicks have surged up to fourth and look all set to claim a play-off place. However, their sights could well be set higher as second place Wrexham are six points ahead and come into this on the back of a disappointing draw with second bottom Cambridge. The Imps are down in midtable but are unbeaten in three against Charlton. Tickets
Leyton Orient v Wigan Athletic @3pm - the O's were looking good for a play-off place too but their form has dipped and they're down to 10th. However, the gap is only four points so there's more than enough time to get right back in it. The Latics won the FA Cup in 2013 but they're in danger of suffering their sixth relegation since that great day at Wembley and their second in three seasons. Currently five points clear of the bottom four, it's not a hopeless situation but two wins from 10 will be giving great cause for concern. Tickets

League Two
AFC Wimbledon v Harrogate Town @3pm - although in the top six and likely to get a play-off place, it must have still been a frustrating season for Dons fans. Every time they build up a head of steam, they go two or three without a win and slip back. Harrogate are down in 20th but are nine points clear of the drop zone and should be safe. Since they joined the EFL in 2020, they've yet to beat Wimbledon and it doesn't look likely this time either. Tickets
Bromley v Accrington Stanley @3pm - survival must have been the main goal for the Ravens' debut season in the EFL so to be in contention for a top-ten finish with six games to go is a fine achievement. A play-off spot looked possible at one point but a five-game winless run has almost certainly put paid to that. Lancashire club Accrington sit just below Harrogate in the table but are only six-points clear of the bottom two and still need a win or two to be sure of staying up. Tickets

National League
Sutton United v Southend United @3pm - the U's are stuck in midtable and unlikely to do anything notable in the remaining weeks of the season. However, they can play a part in who goes up or down. One side looking to get back into the EFL are Southend. The Essex club have suffered only one defeat in 11 and are just one point outside the play-offs. However, they lost to Sutton in September and they'll desperately want to avoid a similar outcome to stay in the race for the top seven. Tickets
Wealdstone v Forest Green Rovers @3pm - with three wins from five games, the Stones have given themselves a fighting chance of staying up. However, they face a tough afternoon here as former EFL side FGR pay a visit. The Gloucestershire club were firmly in the title race but several crucial defeats have seen them slip to third and out of contention for automatic promotion. With a play-off place all-but guaranteed, there's less pressure on them than the hosts. Tickets

National League South
Boreham Wood v Salisbury @3pm - four defeats from six has left The Wood clinging on to the last play-off place as we head into the final five games. Eighth place Weston-super-Mare are two points behind and the only team in a position to challenge them so I expect a bit of toing and froing over the last few weeks of the campaign. Salisbury are 19th and only four points above the relegation zone, so they've got plenty of incentive to do well. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Dartford v Folkestone Invicta @3pm - the Darts are top of this seventh-tier division and looking to make an instant return to the NLS after last season's relegation. However, Billericay are only a point behind and third place Horsham are four points back so it's all to play for with five games to go. Folkestone, on the other hand, are 12th and have little to play for but are well supported and a crowd in excess of 1,000 should be expected. Tickets

Southern League Premier South
Hanwell Town v Merthyr Town @3pm - I don't usually recommend two games at this level but this international fixture is too good to ignore. The Martyrs, if you didn't already know, are a Welsh club who have remained in the English pyramid in the same way Cardiff and Swansea have. After a very disappointing 2021/22, they've been getting steadily better and now look almost certain to win this division. If results go their way on Saturday, they could end the day 14 points clear. As one of the smaller clubs in the division, the Geordies have had a decent campaign and could still finish in the top eight. Tickets

Isthmian League South Central
Uxbridge v Leatherhead @3pm - the Reds have been one of the surprise packages in the eighth tier this season. The last time Uxbridge finished in the top five was in 2012 so for them to be coming into this match in second is some achievement. With Farnham having already won the title, it's now all about securing a play-off place and they'll effectively do that if they beat the Tanners who are leading the chasing pack, nine points behind in sixth. Tickets are £5 on the gate

CCL Premier North
Wembley v Risborough Rangers @3pm - in this ninth-tier division only the bottom two get relegated and these two are the current occupants of those dreaded places. The Lions are at the foot of the table, eight points adrift of safety but they have several games in hand on all of the teams they need to catch. It's still a daunting gap to make up and it'll become a whole lot harder if they lose this. I'm not sure how much tickets are but they shouldn't be more than £8

CCL Division 1
Brook House v Windsor & Eton @3pm - the hosts successfully defended their Middlesex Premier Cup title against Civil Service on Wednesday. Twelve points adrift of the play-offs with six games to go, promotion is probably beyond them but this match will have an impact on who does go up. W&E have been top pretty much all season and they could clinch the title here. To do that they simply need to better second placed Westside's result at Oxhey Jets. Tickets are £7 on the gate
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday 6 April

Premier League
Brentford v Chelsea @2pm - there's a fine trio of games in the top flight on Sunday with this west London derby topping the bill for me. Since joining the Premier League in 2021, the Bees have been a thorn in the side of the Blues. Meeting seven times in the league over the last four years, Brentford have only lost twice and have won on three of their four visits to Stamford Bridge. They've actually been weaker at home and given Chelsea are in better form and back in the top four, the visitors will definitely start as favourites for me. Tickets are only available to members
Fulham v Liverpool @2pm - having lost three of their last five games, the Cottagers' hopes of qualifying for Europe have taken a knock. However, with eight games to go it's still possible if they get back to winning ways. They might have to wait another week to start that run though as the Reds are top and unbeaten since September. Fulham are winless in seven against Liverpool but they are one of the only teams to take points off the Merseyside club this season, drawing 2-2 at Anfield in December. A tiny amount of tickets appear to be available to members
Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton @2pm - Spurs' winless run extended to four games after their loss to Chelsea on Thursday. Down in 14th, the pressure is back on boss Ange Postecoglu and will become almost intolerable if they lose at home to the hapless Saints. The Hampshire club came agonisingly close to winning only their third match of the season in midweek but had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace after conceding an injury-time goal. Nineteen points adrift with eight games to go, relegation looks an absolute certainty. Tickets are only available to members

FAWNL Southern Premier
Watford v Ipswich Town @2pm - there's a women's international break this weekend so the biggest game in town is this third-tier match. After suffering relegation from the Championship last season, the Hornets' hopes of going straight back up have been dashed but they could still finish third. The Tractor Girls are top and will effectively win the title if they triumph here as they'll go six points clear with two games to go, with double the goal difference of their only challengers Hashtag United. This is being played at Wealdstone. Tickets

TLFG: 24-30 March 2025

Greetings one and all - just in case you were wondering where I'd gone and didn't see the post on X, Non-League Day proved to be all-consuming last week and I simply didn't have time to write a piece this week.

I'm now working on next week's piece - apologies for the gap in service and see you again properly in a few days time.

TLFG: 17-23 March 2025

Greetings one and all and welcome to TLFG's Non-League Day Special.

I can't quite believe it's that time of year again, the weeks fly by so fast but here we are with just a few days to go.

Every year I wonder how much further myself and the team can take the event but something new keeps cropping up to move things to another level.

Our major new partnerships this year are with NHS Blood and Transplantas we try and recruit new donors to match the critical need for more blood, and sports retailer Decathlon.

La Liga giants Athletic Bilbao are involved for a third year in a row, partnering with six clubs around the country who play in a similar strip to them.

My employer South Western Railway have got involved again to help raise awareness and I made a film with the PR firm the company use at Walton & Hersham on Tuesday - the result will be out at some point this week plus the results of an interesting survey they commissioned into British attitudes to non-league football.

This year's Non-League Day is on Saturday

Then there's all the work that's being done with Prostate Cancer UK - we're into our 11th year with the charity and clubs across the country will be raising funds for them.

The sale of our merchandise will also be generating funds for the charity too.

The t-shirt below is just one of a range of many designs that are available so have a look, there are hoodies and badges too.

Get NLD merchandise in your club's colours now!

So back to this week's NLD Special - the format is different.

All the matches are on the maps as normal but rather than have a weekend map, there's now one for Saturday (NLD) and one for Sunday.

The other significant difference is that there is no 'Daily Digest', it's all about what you can see on NLD and this will probably get added to as clubs announce their plans once their midweek games are out of the way.

It's also quite possible I could miss a deal or event here or there so please let me know.

Anyway, I'm all set to begin my NLD with a trip to Benfleet for the beginning of the Essex Senior League groundhop at 12pm.

Woodside Stadium will play host to the Premier League trophy so fans can have their photos with it and I've been asked to be there.

From there it will go to Buckhurst Hill for their 3pm kick-off before ending the day at Takeley for their 745pm match and the official switch on of their new floodlights.

All three clubs have received Premier League funding, hence the reason they're getting the trophy.

After Benfleet, my plan is to head back to east London to watch Clapton CFC take on Croydon in the Southern Counties East League at 3pm  - it's where my friends want to go and a visit to London's oldest football ground is always a good experience.

I really hope you can make it to a game - I look forward to catching up again next week.

 THE WEEK AHEAD

This week we've got an England game, a match in League Two and some Women's Super League action but for me the focus is Non-League Day on Saturday.

NON-LEAGUE DAY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the day and give some brief reasons for my choice. Updates will follow as the week progresses. Check the maps above for club info and directions.

Saturday 22 March

National League
Sutton United v Dagenham & Redbridge @1230pm - the first match of the day in the capital is this derby at Gander Green Lane. The U's defeat to Halifax on Saturday left them bang in the midtable doldrums with very little to realistically play for. The Daggers' 3-1 loss to Tamworth saw them end the weekend on level points with two sides in the bottom four as their lengthy winless run continued. An NLD ticket offer is available. Also, if you want to do two games in a day, Sutton Common Rovers play a little to the east at Carshalton Athletic's ground and their game against Moneyfields starts at 3pm
Wealdstone v Woking @3pm - the Stones came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with promotion-chasing Eastleigh on Saturday to earn a morale-boosting point. Although still in the bottom four, they have games in hand on all around them so they've got a reasonable chance of staying up. The Cards are just three places above them so it's a hugely important game for both in their battles for survival. NLD ticket deal

National League South
Boreham Wood v Dorking Wanderers @3pm - one of the most important matches of the day is this one at Meadow Park. Only six points separate the top six in this division and only one team can go up automatically. These two sides are in that leading group and both have been top at some point during the season. With Worthing mounting a mini breakaway at the top, they both need to win to keep up. The club are hosting a karaoke and meet the players event after the game. Tickets
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Maidstone United @3pm - the Beveree is often cited as one of the best non-league grounds in London so is always good to visit. Usually a club to embrace Non-League Day, they should get a good crowd here as they welcome last season's FA Cup giantkillers Maidstone who made it all the way to the Fifth Round, beating Ipswich Town along the way. The Kent club are in the play-off places but only just. NLD ticket offer
Welling United v Worthing @3pm - there's another really important game at Park View Road which is well worth your consideration. With eight games to go, the hosts are in trouble. Eight points adrift of safety, they really have to win the majority of their remaining fixtures to stand a chance of staying up. Worthing, as mentioned above, are top and looking to make sure of that one automatic promotion place. Reduced prices will be available for any Premier League or EFL fan who shows their season-ticket or membership card on arrival. If you don't have one, then you can buy tickets online or on the gate as normal

Isthmian League Premier Division
Cray Wanderers v Bowers & Pitsea @3pm - fans of football history might like to go and watch the Wands. Founded in 1860, London's oldest club have recently begun life at their new Flamingo Park stadium. They lost to Carshalton Athletic at the weekend but the play-offs are still on and they should feel confident of getting another three points against the bottom club. The stakes are high for Bowers - if they lose, they'll be relegated and a draw might also not be enough. Discounted tickets are available to Crystal Palace and Millwall season-ticket holders
Hashtag United v Chatham Town @3pm - the Tags and Chats come into this just one place apart in the table. At eighth and ninth, a push for the play-offs is still on. Hashtag play their games at Aveley in Essex and they have some NLD special deals too

Southern League Premier South
Hanwell Town v AFC Totton @3pm - the Geordies (they play in black and white stripes) spent most of Sunday hosting joyous Newcastle fans who used the Powerday Stadium as their base for the day's EFL Cup Final. With everything cleaned up, they'll be hoping for another bumper crowd for the visit of title-chasing Totton who hail from Hampshire. Hanwell are geographically the closest semi-pro club to QPR's Loftus Road and they'll be hoping the expected presence of R's legend Charlie Austin in the Totton squad will draw in a few fans. Various NLD special discounts apply - ticket sales as of  Friday afternoon are quadruple their normal level so it might be a good idea to buy in advance

Isthmian League North
Walthamstow v Grays Athletic @3pm - if you're in north-east London, a visit to Wadham Lodge is usually a good experience. The 'Stow have been growing their fanbase steadily in recent years and have the fourth best crowds in the division. They managed a whopping 805 against Sporting Bengal United in December, way above the division's average of 250. Although suffering a couple of disappointing results of late, their play-off dreams aren't quite over yet and a win here against midtable Grays will just about keep them in contention. Tickets are £10 on the gate

Isthmian League South Central
Kingstonian v Hanworth Villa @3pm - with Farnham Town all-but champions in this eighth-tier division, it's now all about who can secure a play-off spot. The K's have been second for a while but their form is deserting them at the wrong time and there's now only six points between the clubs in second and sixth. Hanworth are fifth and in even better form than Farnham, with Paul Merson's son Sam banging in the goals for fun at the moment. Special NLD discounts are on offer here too
Sutton Common Rovers v Moneyfields @3pm - as mentioned above, this game can very easily be combined with the Sutton United match at 1230pm so that you can see at least two games on NLD. Apart from that, SCR badly need to win to avoid the drop. Portsmouth club Moneyfields have an outside chance of the play-offs. The hosts have lots of special NLD activities planned for adults and kids so it looks like being a fun afternoon
Uxbridge v Rayners Lane @3pm - probably most recognisable to Londoners for being stations on the same branch of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines of the Underground, these two meet for a Middlesex derby at Honeycroft. The Reds have had a fine season and are up to the heady heights of third and will look to try and further secure their play-off place here. The Lane are in midtable but come into this on the back of beating Hanwell Town in Wednesday night's Middlesex Senior Cup Final. NLD special deal

Isthmian League South
Phoenix Sports v Ashford United @3pm - the hosts are involved in a relegation dogfight and sit just a point above the bottom four. With only one defeat in five, their form is picking up nicely too. Ashford are in midtable and the play-offs will probably just elude them. Phoenix will be bringing in a local pizza company and are raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK. Tickets

Southern League Division 1 Central
Northwood v Flackwell Heath @3pm - the hosts are fighting hard to avoid the drop and have got themselves outside the relegation zone after a shocking start. The opposite is true for Flackwell Heath who are third and going for promotion. Tickets are just £2 for anyone living in an HA or WD postcode

CCL Premier North
Bedfont Sports v North Greenford United @3pm - with the title and the one automatic promotion spot seemingly beyond them, another two Middlesex clubs will do battle for a play-off place. The hosts have made the play-offs in two of the last three seasons and look set to do it again as they're on course to match their third-place finish of last year. NGU sit just outside the top five but have the games in hand to force their way into contention. The Recreation Ground is a fine modern venue, with a high quality artificial pitch and is notable for its location next to Heathrow's runway. Bedfont FC play literally next door on regular grass and also have a match at 3pm against Yateley in the division below - don't get confused! Tickets are £8 on the gate
Egham Town v Virginia Water @3pm - when it comes to winning the title, the Sarnies are in pole position. Although level on points with Amersham Town, they have two games in hand. On Saturday they take on local rivals who are in the top eight themselves so they'll no doubt want to put a dent in those promotion ambitions

Essex Senior League groundhop
One of the highlights of this year's Non-League Day will be this event. The league have spent lots of time and effort co-ordinating staggered kick-off times and creating a passport that will get you into up to four games for £30 and you'll get a different free gift at each one you attend. The action actually starts on Friday night with the games at West Essex and Woodford Town and then gets going again at midday on Saturday at Benfleet where I'll be, at least for a bit. This is where the Premier League trophy will be present for fans to have photos. However, if you can't make it all the way out there, don't worry as it's coming back into the London area for the 3pm game at Buckhurst Hill which is easily reachable by Tube. If you're already committed to watching another game at 3pm and you've got a car, then the trophy will be making one final stop at Takeley near Stansted airport at 745pm. Another game to be included in the passport in the London area is Athletic Newham v Frenford at 3pm but the trophy won't be making an appearance. Contact the league for a passport - there's still time

SCEFL Premier
Stansfeld v Fisher - this season, the hosts have begun a new groundshare at Cray Valley PM's ground in south-east London. On the pitch it hasn't been a great campaign but they should stay up, two or three more wins should do it. The Fish have been far more competitive and are up in fourth but the competition for play-off places is desperately tight and they arguably need the win even more. NLD Special offer
VCD Athletic v Punjab United @3pm - the Vickers are in a desperately tight title race with Faversham Town. One point ahead with seven games to go, they can't afford any slip ups. On NLD they welcome fifth place Punjab United who come from Gravesend and need a win to bolster their hopes of keeping hold of the last play-off place

SCEFL Division 1
Clapton CFC v Croydon @3pm - in the 10th tier, the biggest games and best offers all appear to be in this division at the moment. With an average of 448, CCFC have the biggest crowds in this division by some margin. For a big game like this, against one of their play-off rivals, they could double that (UPDATE - admissions have been capped at 850 for this game so don't leave it too late). The Old Spotted Dog is also the oldest football ground in London so every fan should visit at some point - it's located between Forest Gate and Plaistow stations. The club always have really good prices, discounts and other bits and pieces going on and I heartily recommend a visit. This is where I plan to head for my 3pm game with a number of my friends and TLFG readers
Forest Hill Park v Lewisham Borough @3pm - another highlight of NLD will be the Catford Classico or Blue Classico between the two sides who share the Ladywell Arena. Lewisham had had the upper hand in these derbies in recent years but then FHP merged with SE Dons over the summer and they've become the dominant force. Currently three points clear at the top with a game in hand, they're looking good for the title. NLD Special offer
SOUL Tower Hamlets v Bridon Ropes @3pm - with only four points between the sides in fourth and eighth, the battle for the play-offs is becoming very exciting. Two of those sides meet at the Mile End Stadium in this game. The hosts have been really keen to engage with NLD this year and wanted to move their kick-off to the evening for groundhoppers but the stadium owners (who I think are the council) wouldn't allow it. Instead, they're offering fans half-price kits for one day only and FREE SAMOSAS!

ECL Division 1 South
AS London v Hackney Wick @3pm - although I'm not aware of any deals yet, this is a top-four clash and should be well worth a watch. The hosts have the games in hand to lift them up to third whilst the Wickers are one point behind leaders Harlow with a game in hand of their own. Tickets are £8

CCL Division 1
Molesey v Penn & Tylers Green @3pm - with eight games to go, the Moles are just four points adrift of the play-off places. If they beat second place P&TG then they'll have real reason to believe they've got a chance. Special NLD discounts are available

MORE INFO ON SPECIAL DEALS WILL BE ADDED AS I RECEIVE IT
