TLFG: 27 February - 5 March 2023

Greetings one and all and welcome to this week's edition of TLFG.

How has your week been?

My hopes of going to watch QPR v Actonians on Wednesday were dashed by a family illness but it proved to be a lucky escape as the A's failed to 'show up' and went 4-0 down shortly after half-time with a performance few would have seen coming.

They ultimately fought back to make it 5-3 but the Hoops and their fans went home much the happier.

The one thing I can offer by way of mitigation was the absence of Actonians' star player Natsumi Kanno with an injury but that shouldn't have made that big a difference.

This year's Non-League Day is fast approaching

With my time off work coming to an end, I finally managed to get to a game on Saturday - the West London derby between Hayes & Yeading United and Hanwell Town in the Southern League.

In theory, the Skyex Stadium is really easy to get to from Shepherd's Bush.

I simply need to walk to the end of my road and get on a bus which goes straight there.

However, on a Saturday, the seven-mile journey along Uxbridge Road through Acton, Ealing, Hanwell and Southall took over an hour.

Leaving home at 130pm, I arrived at the ground just as the players were walking out onto the pitch!

The game itself was typically tight for a derby and saw H&YU score early and have the better of the first half, whilst Hanwell did better after the break.

Despite their best efforts, they couldn't find a breakthrough and Hayes & Yeading held on for the 1-0 win.

It was good to see a few Newcastle United fans, in town for Sunday's EFL Cup Final, attend the game as a result of their historical links to Hanwell Town.

Next up for Hanwell is a home game against other local rivals Harrow Borough and there's half a chance I could get to that one.

Failing that, I'll be off to the Women's League Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

A record number of tickets have already been sold but there are still a few left if you want to go.

Have a great week.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The highlights of the next few days include games in the Premier League, EFL, National League, Women's League Cup and many other games in our local non-league and women's competitions.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

Details on all of this week's games can be found on the following match maps. If you've never used them before, please note that when there is more than one match at a specific ground you'll only be able to see individual match pins if you zoom right in. If you don't, the pins obscure each other and you might miss them. To avoid this, you can also scroll down the list of games on the drop down menu at the top of the map page to make sure you get all the information. Games are listed from top to bottom in date order so Monday's games (yellow pin) will appear first and Sunday's (orange pin) last. Games are also ranked in terms of status so the higher the division, the higher up the list they will appear on each day.
Also if you're unfamiliar with the English league structure I indicate the level at which an individual league sits in the national 'pyramid' with the Premier League at the top (Level 1) and various minor leagues at the bottom (Level 10). Typically a top level game will see crowds of anywhere between 20,000-60,000. These figures will gradually decline as you go down the leagues until you get to Levels 8-10 where attendances of 150 or less are most common.

It should also be noted that the top four levels are for fully professional teams. Level 5 has a mixture of professional and semi-professional teams, while Levels 6-10 will see most players paid but it will vary from no more than travel expenses at the bottom, right up to several hundred pounds a week at the top.

MIDWEEK MATCH MAP

Tuesday fixtures - green pin
Wednesday fixtures - turquoise pin
Thursday fixtures - purple pin
Friday fixtures - black pin

WEEKEND MATCH MAP
Saturday fixtures - blue pin
Sunday fixtures - orange pin

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list, by day, what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 27 February

Premier League 2
There are some really good options in this U21 league on Monday evening with Chelsea's match against Arsenal at Kingsmeadow topping the bill. Elsewhere, West Ham United entertain Brighton at Rush Green. If you're prepared to travel beyond London's northern boundary, then Spurs take on Crystal Palace at Stevenage's ground too. Admission is £5 at all three

A bit further afield
Merstham v Chipstead @745pm - once again, if you're prepared to travel a bit beyond London's outer edges then you could treat yourself to this Surrey derby in the Isthmian League. A short walk from Merstham station, this eighth-tier match is very easy to get to

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 28 February

FA Cup Fifth Round
Fulham v Leeds United @745pm - after beating Championship sides Hull City and Sunderland in the previous two rounds, the Cottagers face Premier League opposition for the first time in this season's competition. With top-flight sides often rotating their squads in the FA Cup, it's hard to predict what kind of game we'll get. A lot will depend on the sides' league priorities and with Leeds struggling, it could well be them that make the most changes. Given their current form, Fulham are definitely the favourites here and could be dark horses to win the whole thing. Tickets are available

League Two
AFC Wimbledon v Stevenage @745pm - when it looked as if the Dons were closing in on the play-off places, their form deserted them. Now five without a win after losing at struggling Gillingham, a midtable finish now looks the most likely. Talking of wobbles, Stevenage are definitely having theirs. After a great start, they were pushing Leyton Orient hard in the title race. However, Saturday's loss to Tranmere means they're now 14 points behind them but still clinging on to third which would see them go up automatically. Given how truly awful they've been in recent seasons, it's almost unthinkable that they're in contention at all. Tickets

National League
Barnet v Oldham Athletic @745pm - the Bees ended their three game losing run with an emphatic 4-1 win over Aldershot to move up to fourth. Now six points behind Woking, who dropped points against Wealdstone, a place in the top three is in their sights. Former Premier League side Oldham are spending their first season in non-league football and begun really badly but they're climbing the table fast and aren't the write-offs they previously seemed to be. Tickets
Boreham Wood v Dorking Wanderers @745pm - the Wood's 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United on Saturday was their first in a while and put them back on the edge of the play-off places. Newly promoted Dorking have struggled to establish themselves in the fifth tier and are just a point above the relegation zone. A home win looks likely. Tickets

National League South
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Tonbridge Angels @745pm - the Beavers picked up an absolutely crucial three points against Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday which saw them leapfrog the south London club and climb to 18th. Still only three points above the relegation zone, the wins need to keep coming. Kent club Tonbridge should be a different proposition as they're chasing a play-off spot

Southern League Premier South
Hanwell Town v Harrow Borough @745pm - after narrowly losing the derby match at Hayes & Yeading on Saturday, they follow it up with another derby against another local rival. With Harrow struggling, defeat here could see the out-of-form Geordies start to get sucked into the relegation battle which never looked likely earlier in the season. Boro are really finding hard to win at the moment but have picked up some notable draws, most recently at third-placed Chesham on Saturday

Isthmian League South Central
Tooting & Mitcham United v Walton & Hersham @745pm - with the Terrors bottom and W&H trying to chase down Basingstoke for the title, this match is of huge importance at either end of the table. Although things look bad for Tooting, they're actually unbeaten in four and might not be the pushovers that the table suggests they might be

Essex Senior League
Buckhurst Hill v Woodford Town @745pm - undoubtedly the biggest game of the day in the ninth tier is the first ever Roding Valley Derby in north-east London. The hosts are new to this level and have, according to a friend who went there on Friday, a good ground. Easily walkable from the Central Line station of the same name, this should be well worth a watch. Up in fourth, the visitors should start as favourites

CCL Division 1
FC Deportivo Galicia v Eversley & California @745pm - one of the most entertaining sides in the 10th tier, FCD finally went top on Saturday after winning at AFC Aldermaston. Averaging nearly three goals a game, their games are rarely dull and certainly look like ones to watch this season. The visitors are down in midtable and should be beaten
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 1 March

Premier League
Arsenal v Everton @745pm - two points clear at the top after their win over Leicester, this match against the relegation-threatened Toffees is their crucial game in hand over second placed Manchester City. Win it and they go five points clear, giving them some breathing space. Although down in the bottom three, Everton famously beat the Gunners at the start of February in new boss Sean Dyche's first game so they know what's required to beat them. Tickets are not available

SCEFL Premier
Erith & Belvedere v Holmesdale @745pm - every club has a sticky patch during the season and it seems the previously all-conquering Deres are suffering theirs now. Three games without a win, their lead at the top has been reduced to 15 points and with their nearest challengers having two games in hand, that could come down to nine. Failing to win the title would represent one of the biggest collapses in football history and it's highly improbable but if they come unstuck against lowly Holmesdale, then questions could start to be asked

ECL Division 1 South
Sporting Bengal United v Frenford @745pm - after winning the Mile End Derby against Tower Hamlets, SBU followed it up with a draw at Barkingside to stay in the top six. Next up they face another club from the Ilford area but this one is top. Frenford are currently nine points clear after their win at Cannons Wood

--------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday 2 March

SCYFL Olympian
West Essex v Heybridge Swifts @745pm - I had dig deep to find anything on Thursday and the best I could find is this U18 game at Wadham Lodge in Walthamstow. Whether they play in the main stadium or on the 3G pitch is unclear but this is pretty much all there is

---------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 3 March

Premier League 2
Monday provided us with a fine selection of U21 games and so does Friday. Arsenal welcome Liverpool to Boreham Wood, Fulham host Tottenham at Motspur Park and West Ham receive a visit from league leaders Manchester City at Rush Green. Admission prices vary but it will be no more than £5. UPDATE - Arsenal's game against Liverpool has been moved to 6 March

Essex Senior League
Woodford Town v Little Oakley @745pm - there are three non-league games on offer but this ninth-tier one should draw the biggest crowd. Woodford could be third by the time this kicks-off whilst the visitors are seventh at the time of writing
-------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 4 March

Premier League
Arsenal v AFC Bournemouth @3pm - with the Gunners trying to hold on to top spot and the Cherries trying to avoid the drop, both have plenty to play for. Apart from current form, the chances of Bournemouth winning look slim as they've only beaten Arsenal once in their entire history. When they last played in August, Mikel Arteta's side won 3-0. Tickets are not available to non-members
Chelsea v Leeds United @3pm - the Blues' disappointing season continued with defeat to bitter rivals Spurs at the THS on Sunday lunchtime. The loss leaves them closer to the relegation zone than the top four, putting even more pressure on beleaguered boss Graham Potter. Leeds are fighting relegation but picked up a vital win over bottom club Southampton on Saturday. Lose this one, and Mr Potter will be in serious trouble. Tickets are not available

Championship
Millwall v Norwich City @3pm - with 10 points from their last five games, these sides are in similar form and looking to make sure of a play-off place. With four of those points coming from games against the top two, the Lions are more than a threat to anyone at the moment. However, with only one defeat in 11 against Millwall, the Canaries appear to be a bit of a bogey team. Tickets
Watford v Preston North End @3pm - a narrow defeat at Sheffield United saw the Hornets drop out of the play-off places in what is becoming an increasingly tight promotion race. Unbeaten in three, PNE are five points behind Watford and won't have given up their hopes of grabbing a play-off spot either. Tickets

League Two
AFC Wimbledon v Mansfield Town @3pm - with Stevenage on Tuesday and the play-off chasing Stags on Saturday, it looks like being a challenging week for the Dons. Mansfield aren't playing in midweek whilst some of their rivals are so they could've lost their place in the top seven by the time this gets underway. The reverse fixture in August produced a 5-2 win for the club from Nottinghamshire. Tickets
Leyton Orient v Swindon Town @3pm - with only five defeats from 34 games, it's been a great season for the table-topping O's. Sixteen points clear of fourth, League One is now within touching distance of the east London club. Former Premier League club Swindon still have some work to do to get a play-off place but took a point off Orient the last time they played. Tickets
Sutton United v Crewe Alexandra @3pm - three wins on the bounce have propelled the U's up to ninth and back into play-off contention. Their latest win at Newport County allowed Crewe to pass the Welsh club in lower midtable. Now unbeaten in five, the Cheshire club's last defeat came against leaders Leyton Orient. Tickets

National League
Bromley v Notts County @3pm - a draw at Eastleigh, making it two without a win, saw the Ravens miss their chance to return to the play-off places. They have another chance in midweek when they travel to Torquay but the focus of most of their attention will be this huge match on Saturday. Notts County are top but suffered only their second defeat of the season on Saturday when they lost at home to Dagenham & Redbridge. With Wrexham only two points behind and with two games in hand, they can't afford many more slip-ups if they're to secure that one automatic promotion spot. A big crowd is expected so I'd strongly advise buying tickets in advance
Dagenham & Redbridge v York City @3pm - as mentioned above, the Daggers made all the headlines on Saturday with their highly impressive victory at Notts County. That made it three wins from five for the east London club and they're now three points off seventh. After a poor run, York have picked up four points from their last two games but are still very much in the battle to avoid relegation
Wealdstone v Altrincham @3pm - just a point apart in midtable, these two still have an outside chance of making the top seven. The Stones edged to a 1-0 win at Moss Lane back in November and it could be a similar story here

National League South
Dulwich Hamlet v St Albans City @3pm - despite having a pretty underwhelming season, crowds at Champion Hill remain amazingly strong. Another defeat at Hampton & Richmond on Saturday left them bottom of the division's form table but this match could well see another sell-out crowd of 3,000. St Albans are usually there or thereabouts and sit just outside the play-off places  Given the large crowds, Dulwich are one of the only non-league clubs in London that I'd strongly advise buying in advance for. I'd also recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before kick-off to secure a spot with a good view. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier Division
Hornchurch v Lewes @3pm - the Urchins' 2-0 win at Cray left them one point behind leaders Bishop's Stortford with a game in hand. Although back in 10th, the Rooks have games in hand on most of those above them so they could find themselves in the top four if they were to win them. Also a very well supported side, the Sussex club could bring a few with them

Isthmian League South Central
Chertsey Town v Northwood @3pm - the Curfews missed the chance to move into the top four when a last-minute goal saw Guernsey salvage a 3-3 draw against the Surrey club on their big trip to the Channel Islands. After their recent wobble, Northwood managed a 3-1 win over Ashford Town to move back into the top three

Essex Senior League
Barking v Ilford @3pm - there aren't many top-of-the-table clashes or relegation six-pointers in the ninth tier so this local derby in east London is my pick at this level. Sixth and 12th at the time of writing, this should be close

SCEFL Division 1
FC Elmstead v Snodland Town @3pm - there aren't any obvious humdingers at this level either so head to Sutton Athletic's ground where leaders Snodland pay a visit

--------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 5 March

Women's League Cup Final
Arsenal v Chelsea @3pm - the first major bit of silverware in the women's game comes up for grabs at Selhurst Park on Sunday. The Gunners are the most successful team in the competition's history but they haven't won it since 2018. The Blues, on the other hand, have made the last three finals and won two of them. Manchester City beat them at Plough Lane last season but they look like winning the title back as they're in great form and beat Arsenal 2-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday. A record number of tickets have already been sold but there are still a few left if you want to go

FA Women's Championship
Charlton Athletic v Southampton @2pm - with all our other local WSL teams playing away, the next best game on offer is this second-tier game between the Addicks and the third-placed Saints. The match is being played at The Valley and tickets are available
Crystal Palace v Bristol City @2pm - the Eagles picked up a useful win over struggling Sheffield United on Sunday to keep themselves in the top six. Despite being one of the best clubs in the Championship, City got destroyed 8-1 at home by Manchester City in the FA Cup to show once again the huge gulf in class between the two divisions. The visitors badly need to bounceback with a win here to keep themselves in the title hunt
London City Lionesses v Sheffield United @2pm - if they do slip up then title rivals LCL will have a big chance to capitalise. As previously mentioned, the Blades are having a poor season and should be beaten

FAWNL Cup Semi-Final
Watford v Wolverhampton Wanderers @2pm - in the third tier we have a very interesting looking match between the side currently third in the Southern Premier against the team in second in the Northern Premier. Being played at Wealdstone's ground, the winners will play either Nottingham Forest or Portsmouth

FAWNL Division 1 South East
Hashtag United v Norwich City @2pm - the Tags have been odds-on favourites to win this division for what seems like months. However, they lost 4-0 at home to their nearest rivals AFC Wimbledon on Sunday, a result which stunned most regular watchers of this division.. The Dons have a game in hand against London Seaward in late March which if won could leave them just two points behind. In other words, Hashtag can't really afford many more mistakes. Norwich are fourth and could make things difficult

TLFG: 20-26 February 2023

Greetings and welcome to the latest edition of TLFG.

Sadly it's a work in progress as I've had a rather unexpectedly challenging weekend, looking after a friend's children after a family drama.

So at this stage I've managed to produce the maps and also a preview of games up until Friday - I will try and write up the weekend on Monday.

The only match I'm likely to get to this week is the derby between QPR and Actonians in the Women's National League on Wednesday night at Hanwell Town.

Hopefully I'll have everything up to speed by Monday lunchtime so check back again then.

Cheers.

UPDATE - the weekend Daily Digest has now been updated

THE WEEK AHEAD

The highlights of the next few days include a high-profile friendly and games in the Premier League, EFL, National League, Women's FA Cup, FA Youth Cup and many other games in our local non-league and women's competitions.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list, by day, what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 20 February

Championship
Watford v West Bromwich Albion @8pm - the Hornets are still very much in contention for a play-off place but they can't buy a win at the moment, with too many draws seeing them drop out of the top six. The Baggies were in real trouble in October but since replacing Steve Bruce with Carlos Corberan, they've climbed the table fairly swiftly. If they win here, they'll go above Watford. Tickets

Premier League Cup
Fulham v QPR @7pm - if you prefer a cheaper option on the south-west side of town, then this U21 derby match at Motspur Park should be well worth a watch. The Cottagers play two divisions above the R's so will start as strong favourites. Admission is just £3 on the gate

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 21 February

Championship
Millwall v Burnley @745pm - after beating second placed Sheffield United on Saturday, the Lions will come into this match against the leaders with renewed confidence. After drawing with Watford in midweek, the Clarets got back to winning ways against Luton this weekend and are now 11 points clear at the top. Tickets

National League
Barnet v Altrincham @745pm - with back-to-back defeats to Notts County and Torquay, it's been a bad week for the Bees. However, a win here against midtable opposition will put them within touching distance of third
Dagenham & Redbridge v Aldershot Town @745pm - with only one win from their last five games, the Daggers are starting to lose ground on the top seven. Now five points adrift, they really need to start winning soon or their season could be over. The Shots are four points behind and have lost their last three against D&R

National League South
Dartford v Slough Town @745pm - the Darts dropped another couple of points with a draw at Braintree on Saturday. The result kept them in second but allowed local rivals Ebbsfleet to open an 11-point lead at the top after thrashing Hampton & Richmond. The Rebels are in the bottom half, have lost their last two and should be beaten here

Southern League Premier South
Metropolitan Police v Weston-super-Mare @745pm - the Met are usually there or thereabouts when it comes to getting a play-off place and they're in contention again. Currently four points off the top five, they have a chance but they'll do well to get anything here. WSM are currently top with games in hand on their two nearest challengers

Isthmian League South Central
Ashford Town (Middlesex) v Hanworth Villa @745pm - neither of these sides are likely to get promoted or relegated but this is worth considering as it's a local derby. The clubs are located just three miles apart to the south of Heathrow Airport

CCL Division 1
FC Deportivo Galicia v British Airways @745pm - nothing really floats my boat in the ninth tier but we've got this very local derby in the 10th. Like the game above, it's also being played just to the south of Heathrow, with the runway just 700m from the pitch. The hosts can go joint top with Langley if they win here. BA are no mugs though and could go sixth with a win of their own
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 22 February

Isthmian League Premier
Kingstonian v Herne Bay @745pm - with both sides fighting to stay up, this has the feel of a six-pointer about it. With only seven points between the clubs in the bottom five, this looks like becoming a relegation battle to keep an eye on

Isthmian League South Central
Southall v Basingstoke Town @745pm - the visitors kept a firm grip of top spot with a 4-2 win at Chipstead on Saturday. Despite losing at Thatcham Town, the 'All kept their place in the top eight

CCL Premier North
London Lions v Ascot United @745pm - we're also lucky enough to have the leaders of this division pay a visit to TLFG's catchment area on Wednesday. Currently five points clear, with games in hand on many of their main rivals, it's looking good for Ascot. The hosts got promoted to this level for the first time this season and they're holding their own in midtable

Essex Senior League
Athletic Newham v Clapton @745pm - there's a groundshare derby to enjoy in east London. The hosts are sitting snugly in midtable whist the Tons are fighting the drop

ECL Division 1 South
Sporting Bengal United v Tower Hamlets @745pm - a little to the west we've also got the Mile End derby where these old rivals, who also groundshare, look to take the local bragging rights

FAWNL Southern Premier
Watford v Portsmouth @745pm - at Wealdstone's ground, there's a huge match in the women's third tier where the third-placed Hornets welcome the leaders. The hosts have three games in hand on Pompey and will go top if they win them

FAWNL Division 1 South East
QPR v Actonians @745pm - there are some decent looking games in the fourth tier too but for me, it's all about this local derby at Hanwell Town. The visitors are ahead of the R's in the table but both bowed out of the Capital Cup on Sunday and the reverse fixture ended 0-0. These games are usually incredibly close with any wins coming by one-goal margins or penalties in cup games

--------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday 23 February

FA Youth Cup Quarter-Final
Arsenal v Cambridge United @7pm - the Gunners haven't reached the final of the country's most prestigious U18 cup since 2018 where they got thrashed by Chelsea. On paper, it would appear that a place in the semi-finals is theirs to lose as Cambridge are the lowest-ranked side left in the competition. This game is being played at the Emirates and tickets are just £4

---------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 24 February

Premier League
Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers @8pm - there's a fine selection of games on Friday with this top-flight game topping the bill. A superb win at Brighton on Saturday saw the Cottagers climb above the Seagulls into sixth as their dream season continues. Wolves have improved greatly under Julen Lopetegui but this weekend's disappointing defeat to Bournemouth left them just three points above the relegation zone. The club from the Midlands are unbeaten in five against Fulham and could sneak a point here. Tickets appear to have sold out

Professional Development League
Watford v Swansea City @1pm - earlier in the day, the Hornets' U21 side welcome their counterparts from south Wales to Vicarage Road. Please check all the details before you travel as the venue might change

Essex Senior League
Romford v Barking @745pm - there's yet another groundshare derby in east London where the tenants take on the landlords. Barking are sixth and will start as favourites
-------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 25 February

Premier League
West Ham United v Nottingham Forest @3pm - with Bournemouth and Everton both winning at the weekend, the Hammers' defeat at Spurs saw them end the weekend back in the relegation zone. Overall, David Moyes' side has become much harder to beat of late but they're drawing too many. Forest sit five points above them and are in pretty good shape at the moment, meaning another draw looks highly likely. Tickets
Crystal Palace v Liverpool @745pm - there's a rare evening kick-off this Saturday, much to the delight of the away supporters! Palace picked up another draw at Brentford at the weekend, extending their winless run to eight games. The Reds are having an incredibly disappointing season but back-to-back wins over Everton and Newcastle have got them going in the right direction again. Tickets are only available to members

Championship
QPR v Blackburn Rovers @3pm - with only one win from 11 league games and with the team seemingly in freefall, the R's fired manager Neil Critchley on Sunday. The former Blackpool boss only took over in December. Personally, I'm sad this happened but have to admit that I found him one of the most uninspiring people we've ever had at the helm. As for Saturday, it goes without saying that Rovers are in far better form but they have become another team who've drawn far too many of late. QPR have won their last three against Blackburn at Loftus Road and would love to continue that run here. UPDATE - QPR appointed former player Gareth Ainsworth as their new manager during the week so this will be his first game in charge. Tickets

League One
Charlton Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday @3pm - things have notably improved under Dean Holden but even though the Addicks are now in the top half, they're still closer to the relegation zone than the play-offs. On Saturday they welcome the current leaders who are having a right old battle for the title with Plymouth. Currently locked on 68 points with the Devon club, they have a game in hand and beat their rivals a few weeks ago in front of over 33,000 fans at Hillsborough. Tickets

National League
Barnet v Aldershot Town @3pm - if the Bees win in midweek, then they could well have a chance of going third here. On current form they should beat the Shots but they lost the reverse fixture 3-1 back in September
Boreham Wood v Scunthorpe United @3pm - three consecutive draws have seen The Wood drop out of the play-off places. With former EFL side Scunthorpe in the bottom two, they should be beaten but with seven points from their last five games, they are showing signs of  recovery

National League South
Dartford v Oxford City @3pm - game of the day in the sixth tier sees two of the current top four meet at Princes Park. The Darts' have been a bit iffy of late whilst the visitors are top of the form table and beating all before them. On Saturday they beat promotion rivals Worthing 3-0 and must fancy their chances here

Isthmian League Premier
Cray Wanderers v Hornchurch @3pm - the third-place Urchins thrashed Herne Bay 5-1 on Saturday to keep pace with Bishop's Stortford and Aveley at the top. Cray are also in the top six but have played more than most of those around them and could really do with a win

Southern League Premier South
Hayes & Yeading United v Hanwell Town @3pm - elsewhere in the seventh tier there's a local derby to be enjoyed. H&YU made a much slower start than last season but four wins from their last five has put them back in contention. Now only four points adrift of the play-off places, they should start as marginal favourites against the Geordies who have lost four of their last five

Isthmian League North
Grays Athletic v Tilbury @3pm - in the eighth tier, we've got an Essex derby. Neighbouring towns on the Thames, these games can get quite lively. Grays are pushing hard for a play-off place, whilst Tilbury are battling the drop

SCEFL Premier
Phoenix Sports v Whitstable Town @3pm - when I started writing this blog, Phoenix were down in the 10th tier and had fairly rudimentary facilities. In the years since, they climbed all the way up to the eighth tier. Sadly, defeat on the last day of last season saw them relegated back to this level along with Whitstable. Thankfully for both clubs, they've responded well and they're in the top six

SCEFL Division 1
Tooting Bec v Lydd Town @3pm - most games are much of a muchness in the 10th tier but this game between two of the top eight in this division should be good. Both sides have taken eight points from their last five games so it should be pretty close

SPCFL Premier
AFC Cubo v Lyne @2pm - the leaders welcome the club in third to the Quintin Hogg Memorial Ground which is located on the banks of the Thames next to Chiswick Bridge. Cubo won the 2018/19 title and are currently nine points clear at the top
--------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 26 February

EFL Cup Final
Manchester United v Newcastle United @430pm - the first major Wembley final of the season takes place on Sunday and it sees the Magpies go in hunt of their first serious bit of silverware since winning the Fairs Cup in 1969! With five wins from nine final appearances, Manchester United are one of the most successful sides in the competition's history. The Old Trafford club are also unbeaten in six against Newcastle and should start as favourites here. Tickets have sold out

Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea @130pm - the biggest game of the weekend sees these two fierce London rivals meet at the THS. Spurs moved back into the top four after beating West Ham on Sunday, as their habit of blowing hot and cold continued. Elsewhere, the Blues' terribly underwhelming season continued with a 1-0 defeat at home to bottom club Southampton. Almost unbelievably, Chelsea are unbeaten in 12 against Tottenham but that impressive run could well end here. Tickets are not available to non-members

Women's FA Cup Fifth Round
Chelsea v Arsenal @2pm - with the international break over, the big teams return to action in the FA Cup. Without doubt, the tie of the round is this match between two of the heavyweights of the women's game who contested the 2021 final. The Gunners, like the men's team, hold the record for most wins in this competition but haven't won it since 2016. The Blues, however, have won three of the last five. On current form and with home advantage, Chelsea will start as favourites. Tickets
Tottenham Hotspur v Reading @2pm - both sides are in terrible form and in the WSL's bottom four. Neither side has ever been to the Women's FA Cup Final but a place in the quarter-finals is there for the taking. A win here could well kick-start either side's season. Tickets
West Ham United v Aston Villa @3pm - there's another very well balanced looking tie at the Chigwell Construction Stadium. Currently fifth and seventh, the sides produced a fiery encounter back in October which saw a mass brawl break out after Hawa Cissoko hit Villa's Sarah Mayling. Hammers boss Paul Konchesky was also sent off but despite all this, his side won 2-1. With some great January signings, most notably Jordan Nobbs, Villa could be a dark horse when it comes to this competition. Tickets
Charlton Athletic v Birmingham City @2pm - talking of balanced ties, there's another one at VCD Athletic's ground where the teams who are fourth and fifth in the second tier do battle. Tickets

TLFG: 13-19 February 2023

Greetings one and all and welcome to this week's TLFG.

I hope you're all well and thanks to those of you for listening to my fledgling podcast.

It's still all a bit trial and error at the moment but I really appreciate those of you who have given me some feedback.

Last week I joked about my friend Liam's developing, lighthearted, feud with Actonians captain Naomi Graham.

Having had run-ins with her at three matches this season, he was sad to be missing out on the next installment this coming Sunday when his side, AFC Wimbledon, play against them again.

This year's Non-League Day is fast approaching

Well completely randomly, he ran into her with some A's team-mates at Dulwich Hamlet as they enjoyed their sold-out game against Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.

Apparently it all ended amicably, hands were shaken and there were smiles all round - thank goodness for that!

I haven't seen any football this week but any spare moment I've had has been put into Non-League Day preparations.

This year's annual celebration of semi-professional and amateur men's football takes place on Saturday 25 March and we're hoping it will be the biggest yet - hopefully we'll be able to make a big announcement this week.

On Monday, I'm aiming to book tickets for this season's Continental Cup Final (Women's League Cup) between Arsenal and Chelsea which is being played at Crystal Palace on 5 March.

At the end of the week I begin a run of nine days off.

Hopefully I'll be doing blood platelet donation on Friday, it's my daughter's birthday party on Saturday and then I plan to head to Carshalton for the previously mentioned AFC Wimbledon v Actonians game.

Lastly this week, many thanks to Iain G from East Sheen who donated to TLFG's coffee-drinking fund  - I really, really appreciate it.

There might be another podcast from me at some point this week but I'm still getting to grips with what the best format is.

Have a great week.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The highlights of the next few days include a high-profile friendly and games in the Premier League, EFL, National League, Women's National League and many other games in our local non-league and women's competitions.

Monday fixtures - yellow pin
Tuesday fixtures - green pin
Wednesday fixtures - turquoise pin
Thursday fixtures - purple pin
Friday fixtures - black pin

WEEKEND MATCH MAP
Saturday fixtures - blue pin
Sunday fixtures - orange pin

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list, by day, what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 13 February

Professional Development League
QPR v Bristol City @7pm - the R's U21 side get the week underway with this match at Hanwell Town's ground. The visitors are currently top of the division so should provide formidable opposition

Essex Senior League Cup
Redbridge v Enfield @745pm - there is match at Carshalton in the Isthmian Premier but this cup tie between the top two in the ESL looks like it could be a more meaningful

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 14 February

Championship
QPR v Sunderland @745pm - the hosts' dismal form under new boss Neil Critchley continued on Saturday with defeat to Millwall, the Lions' first win at Loftus Road since 1989. It's unlikely to get much easier against the Mackems who are also very much in play-off contention. The reverse fixture ended in a 2-2 draw with goalkeeper Seny Dieng scoring a last-minute equaliser for QPR. Tickets

League Two
Leyton Orient v Rochdale @745pm - why not celebrate Valentines Day with Kids For A Quid at Brisbane Road? Well I guess they have to try something to get you to come and watch as the bottom club in the EFL pay a visit. With Stevenage losing, the O's extended their lead at the top to seven points with a draw at Walsall on Saturday Tickets
Sutton United v Swindon Town @745pm - only a point apart in a very congested upper midtable, these two should provide a decent contest. The last match between them at the County Ground in September saw Swindon win 3-2. Tickets

National League
Boreham Wood v Solihull Moors @745pm - the Wood blew a 2-0 lead at promotion rivals Woking on Saturday but still managed to come away with a useful point. It kept them in the top seven but anything less than a win here, against midtable opposition, will probably see them drop out of the play-off places
Dagenham & Redbridge v Eastleigh @745pm - if they do slip up, then the Daggers are just a point behind and poised to replace them. Hampshire club Eastleigh are only a point behind them so it's all to play for at the Chigwell Construction Stadium

Middlesex Senior Cup Quarter-Final
Wealdstone v Brentford B @745pm - the tie of the round pits the fifth-tier Stones against the side who have made two of the last three finals. The non-league club have won this cup 13 times but haven't picked up the silverware since 1985. The Bees, on the other hand, won it for the first time way back in 1898 and collected only their second title in 2019 when they started fielding their B team

Isthmian League Premier Division
Corinthian Casuals v Hornchurch @745pm - defeat to Hastings saw CCs slump to the bottom of the table on Saturday. With only five wins from 30 games, it's looking pretty grim for the south-west London club. The Urchins, however, thrashed former leaders Potters Bar 5-0 to climb back up to third. Now four points behind leaders Bishop's Stortford with two games in hand, things are looking pretty good for Mark Stimson's side

Isthmian League South Central
Northwood v Walton & Hersham @745pm - when star striker Sydney Ibie left for Dagenham & Redbridge before Christmas, many wondered how it would affect title-chasing Northwood. Sadly it seems to have been to their detriment. Defeat at Chipstead on Saturday saw them lose more ground on the top two with leaders Basingstoke now almost out of sight. W&H are the club in second so a win here will be of huge importance to both

EAL Senior Division
Frenford Development v Sporting Hackney @745pm - this 11th-tier match isn't hugely significant but I had to throw it in as it's the closest match taking place to Valentines Park in Ilford. Where else would you rather be on 14 February???
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 15 February

Premier League
Arsenal v Manchester City @730pm - this time last week it was the turn of these clubs' women's teams to do battle in the cup. On that occasion, the Gunners won 1-0 and I'm sure they'd be overjoyed to repeat that scoreline here. After dropping points against Everton and Brentford in their last two games, Mikel Arteta's side are still top but looking shaky. City have won their last six against Arsenal in all competitions and are their nearest challengers. A win for the North London club will steady a lot of nerves. Tickets are not available

Isthmian League Premier Division
Cray Wanderers v Folkestone Invicta @745pm - their win over Carshalton on Saturday means Cray can push into the top three with a victory here. They have played more games than all those around them so their position is arguably a little false but it's still looking pretty good for London's oldest club

London Senior Trophy Semi-Final
Forest Hill Park v Tooting Bec @745pm - there's a game of huge importance at the Ladywell Arena where a place in the LST Final is up for grabs. Both these sides play in the SCEFL Division 1 and the visitors should start as favourites

--------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday 16 February

Arnold Clark Cup
England v South Korea @745pm - with nothing of any note on in London, why not go and watch the Lionesses take on Asian opposition as they prepare for this summer's Women's World Cup? Being played just to the north of the capital in Milton Keynes, this forms the second part of a doubleheader which sees Italy play Belgium at 445pm with one ticket valid for both games. Tickets

---------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 17 February

Premier League 2
Arsenal v West Ham United @7pm - the action resumes on Friday with two decent U21 games. The biggest would appear to be this derby at Boreham Wood. Arsenal U21 games at this venue are usually free entry but check with the club on the day
Fulham v Manchester City @7pm - the other game of the night sees the Cottagers welcome City to their Motspur Park training ground. The visitors are top of the PL2 after beating Liverpool 3-1 on Sunday
-------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 18 February

Premier League
Brentford v Crystal Palace @3pm - the Bees' great run continued with a 1-1 draw against leaders Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday. Still in the top eight ahead of clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool, Thomas Frank's side have proven they're more than a match for anyone. Palace managed to take a point from their game against fierce rivals Brighton on Saturday but extended their winless run to seven games in the process. The last three games between these sides have ended in a draw but it's hard to look past a Brentford win on this occasion. Tickets are only available to members
Chelsea v Southampton @3pm - over at Stamford Bridge, two clubs who are having incredibly disappointing seasons meet for what could be a big game for both. The Blues' draw at struggling West Ham on Saturday saw them stretch their unbeaten run to four games but with near neighbours Fulham beating Nottingham Forest, they stayed in ninth. The Saints lost to the 10 men of Wolves to stay bottom and promptly sacked manager Nathan Jones on Sunday morning as a response. Despite their terrible form, one of the high points of Southampton's season so far was beating Chelsea at St Mary's in August. With Jones gone, maybe they can raise their game again. Tickets have sold out

Championship
Millwall v Sheffield United @1230pm - with three wins from five, the Lions are up into the top five and looking to cement a play-off place. With average crowds of 14,000, the south London club are one of the smallest clubs in the division so they're doing superbly well. The Blades are second and looking very likely to go up automatically with Burnley. They also won 2-0 here last month in the FA Cup. Tickets

League Two
AFC Wimbledon v Hartlepool United @3pm - with only one win from six, the Dons have missed numerous opportunities to break into the top seven. Still only five points adrift of the play-off places, they should be expected to take the points here against a side who are just above the relegation zone. Tickets
Leyton Orient v Crawley Town @3pm - back-to-back home games against two of the bottom three should see the O's pick up six points this week. Anything less will be seen as a disappointment and could cost them given nearest challengers Stevenage have three games in hand. Tickets
Sutton United v Doncaster Rovers @3pm - at the time of writing, only two points separate these sides. The U's haven't played Doncaster at Gander Green Lane since 1999 when they won 1-0. Tickets

National League
Bromley v Dorking Wanderers @3pm - every other local team in the National League has had a mention this week so why should Bromley miss out? Sitting just outside the play-off places, they face a team sitting just above the relegation zone. Neither side are in great form with only one win between them over their last five games

National League South
Dulwich Hamlet v Bath City @3pm - despite having a pretty underwhelming season, crowds at Champion Hill remain amazingly strong. Saturday saw another sell-out crowd of 3,000 witness their 2-1 loss to Tonbridge which left them down in 18th. Bath aren't in great form either but sit far more snugly in midtable. Given the large crowds, Dulwich are one of the only non-league clubs in London that I'd strongly advise buying in advance for. I'd also recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before kick-off to secure a spot with a good view. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier Division
Aveley v Lewes @3pm - the game of the day in the seventh tier, for me, would be this top-six clash. The Millers are currently second, six points ahead of the Rooks but they have two games in hand on the hosts. It's hard to say who is the best in this division at the moment as games played varies but Hornchurch, who are also at home, look marginally the strongest

Isthmian League South Central
Chipstead v Basingstoke Town @3pm - the Chips potter along most seasons and don't really trouble the scorers, never really threatening to go up or down so they get a bit overlooked. Famed for the legendary Muddy Boot Tea Hut, their ground is well worth a visit for that alone. It's also worth going on Saturday to run the rule over Basingstoke who are now top of the division and starting to open up a lead

CCL Premier South
Colliers Wood United v Raynes Park Vale @3pm - it's A3 derby time again. The sides have already met twice this season in the league and FA Vase and on both occasions RPV have edged to a 1-0 win. Currently fifth, CWU will be looking to make it third time lucky as they take on the leaders

ECL Division 1 South
NW London v Frenford @3pm - both of these sides are still relatively new to 10th-tier football. The hosts, who play at Hadley, are in their first season whilst Frenford have only been at this level since 2018. NWL are experiencing a season of consolidation after their move up from the MCFL whilst Frenford look well on course to win the title

London Senior Trophy Semi-Final
FC Petrocub v Croydon @2pm - after beating Jolof Sports in midweek, the Trams next travel to Romford to play 11th-tier opposition from the Essex Alliance League. The winners will play Tooting Bec in the final

--------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 19 February

Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United @430pm - Spurs top the bill on Sunday with this derby against one of their fiercest rivals. The club from N17 are blowing hot and cold at the moment, beating Manchester City one week and getting thrashed by Leicester the next. Consequently they're floating around in fifth at the moment, taking it turns with Newcastle to occupy the final Champions League spot. The Hammers are two points above the relegation zone after a poor start to the season but they're now four games unbeaten in all competitions and the confidence is starting to come back. Tickets are only available to members

FA WNL Southern Premier
Watford v MK Dons @2pm - with the Lionesses taking part in the Arnold Clark Cup (they play Italy in Coventry on Sunday), the top two women's divisions have the week off. The Hornets picked up a tidy 3-1 win at Cheltenham on Sunday to move up to fourth. If they win their games in hand, which they have on all those above them, they'll be right back in title contention. The visitors are the kind of midtable side that need to be beaten if their aspirations of top spot are to be taken seriously

Essex Senior Cup Semi-Final
Hashtag United v Billericay Town @130pm - last season's title rivals go head-to-head for a place in the ESC Final. Hashtag lost out in the race to win the FAWNL Division 1 South East title last season and Billericay moved up to the third tier. Comfortably holding their own after a shaky start, they can expect a spirited display from Hashtag who appear to have the South East title within their grasp already this season

Capital Senior Cup Quarter-Finals
QPR v Arsenal Academy @2pm - of the four quarter-finals, this one could be very interesting indeed as it gives us the chance to look at some of the stars of the future. The Gunners' youngsters put 11 past Sutton United in the last round and a Rangers side who aren't in stellar form could be humbled too
Ashford Town (Middlesex) v Charlton Athletic U21 @2pm - it could be a similar story at the Robert Parker Stadium too. Again, the Addicks' youngsters gave an impressive display last time out as they scored 12 at Hounslow. However, Ashford are a far better side than that and this should be a lot closer
Haringey Borough v London Bees @2pm - the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, Haringey caused a bit of an upset by beating London Seaward on penalties in the previous round. In London Bees they face a side from two tiers above them but how strong a side will they field?
AFC Wimbledon v Actonians @3pm - on paper, this tie between two of the better sides in the fourth tier looks like being the closest. With two narrow defeats to the Dons already this season, will it be third time lucky for the A's? Being played at Carshalton Athletic, you won't be surprised to hear that this is where I intend to be on Sunday

TLFG: 6-12 February 2023

Hello dear readers and welcome to this week's TLFG.

Some of you may have noticed that I launched a podcast last week which saw me attend the FA Trophy match between Harrow Borough and FC Halifax Town, which was an expericence to produce.

I went to another match on Sunday (Actonians v AFC Wimbledon) with grand plans of putting something else together but when I got there I decided I just wanted to watch the game.

Having written a few match reports recently too, I remembered just how much it gets in the way of enjoying a action!

Taking photos is fine but trying to record anything just adds a level of stress which you don't need, especially when you have a child in tow.

West Ham United host Chelsea in a Continental Cup semi-final on Thursday
Tickets

My eldest came along to the game today to be a mascot.

Trotting out alongside captain Naomi Graham, she was joined by one of her U10s team-mates, as she filed through the flag waving guard of honour of which I played a part.

Regular TLFG reader Liam, a Dons fan, joined me for this match but he would have no part in the flag waving.

On paper, the Dons definitely started as favourites and had already beaten the A's 2-0 at Plough Lane back in September.

The tempo was high, tackles flew in and chances came and went for both sides.

On balance though, I felt the visitors were shading things and they took the lead on 24 minutes when Ellie Dorey's low shot beat a diving Amy Butler to her left.

I have to say I feared the worst but two minutes later Meila D'Santos had swept home an equaliser from close range to ensure it was 1-1 at the break.

The second half was a similarly tight affair with the deciding goal  coming just after the hour courtesy of an Ashlee Hincks penalty after Sarah Coomson's hand ball.

A great late chance fell to Samaira Khan but she scuffed her effort and the Dons held on for the win.

With games in hand on all those around them, second place looks like theirs to lose.

Sadly for them, though, only one team goes up and leaders Hashtag United look home and dry as they won again on Sunday.

As for Actonians, anything higher than the fifth place they achieved last season should be seen as a success and that looks quite possible.

At the end of Sunday's game, Naomi Graham came over to discuss the match with fans and had no trouble picking out Liam who she's now met three times and makes a point of having a bit of banter with on each occasion.

Strangely, the west London club will play the Dons again in their next match in two weeks time.

Paired together in the Capital Senior Cup, will it be third time lucky for Actonians?

Sadly Liam won't be there - we were both looking forward to the fourth round of his duel with Naomi.

I do have a couple of days off towards the end of the week and like the look of the two Continental Cup semi-finals but realistically I think it could well be a couple of weeks before I get to a match again.

There's also a chance I'll got another podcast out, even if it's just an audio version of this - let's see.

Finally, a huge thanks to Stephen H from Feltham who donated to TLFG's coffee-drinking fund - I really, really appreciate it.

Enjoy your week and let me know what you get up to.

UPDATE - a podcast is now available to accompany this piece

 THE WEEK AHEAD

The highlights of the next few days include a high-profile friendly and games in the Premier League, EFL, National League, FA Vase, Women's Super League and many other games in our local non-league and women's competitions.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list, by day, what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 6 February

FA Youth Cup Fifth Round
Watford v Arsenal @7pm - the sixth week of 2023 begins with the Hornets' U18 side taking centre stage with this important last-16 tie against the Gunners at Vicarage Road. Tickets are £5

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 7 February

Premier League International Cup
Arsenal v PSV Eindhoven @7pm - the following night it's the U21's turn to entertain you. Taking place at Boreham Wood, the visiting Dutch opposition are currently unbeaten and top of Group B

Isthmian League Premier
Wingate & Finchley v Hornchurch @745pm - there are several games in the seventh tier on Tuesday but I've gone for this as it affects both ends of the table. W&F recorded a fine 1-0 win over promotion contenders Cray Wanderers on Saturday to move clear of the bottom three. The Urchins won 2-1 at Folkestone Invicta to move up for fourth

Isthmian League South East
Beckenham Town v Ramsgate @745pm - after beating frontrunners Chatham in midweek, the Becks missed the chance to go top by losing at Whitehawk on Saturday. On Tuesday they have another opportunity when they welcome the Rams who sit just two points above them in second

Essex Senior League
Redbridge v Woodford Town @745pm - in the ninth tier, two of the top four meet at Oakside. If the hosts lose, they'll be left in second  a significant eight points behind leaders Enfield and will have played two games more

CCL Division 1 Cup Second Round
Rayners Lane v Langley @745pm - the best offering in the tenth tier sees the team in fifth host the leaders in the division's cup competition. With Langley losing at RB Kensington on Saturday, Rayners Lane will feel they have a chance to progress
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 8 February

FA Women's League Cup Semi-Final
Arsenal v Manchester City @715pm - more commonly known as the Continental Cup, this competition for clubs in the top two tiers of the women's game is down to its final four. City are the reigning champions and are unbeaten in six games since the start of the year. Although the Gunners are also unbeaten inn 2023, they could only manage a 0-0 draw at West Ham on Sunday which makes me feel the visitors might edge this. Being played at Boreham Wood, tickets are available from £8

Premier League International Cup
Crystal Palace v Braga @7pm - there's some more European U21 action on Wednesday at Dulwich Hamlet's ground where the Eagles welcome Portuguese opposition. If they win, it could put them joint top of Group C but only if Everton lose to Dinamo Zagreb in one of the night's other games

--------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 9 February

FA Women's League Cup Semi-Final
West Ham United v Chelsea @715pm - on paper, the result of this semi-final looks like a foregone conclusion. The Blues are usually a safe bet to beat anyone outside the WSL's top four so if the Hammers do get through it will be a big upset. However, Paul Konchesky's side raised a few eyebrows by drawing with Arsenal on Sunday so maybe this won't be as straightforward as it first appears. Although this cup is probably their lowest priority, Chelsea have made it to the last three finals and won two of them. My money's on a Chelsea v Manchester City final. Tickets are available from £8

Friday 10 February

Premier League 2
West Ham United v Fulham @7pm - most of the action in town on Friday takes place in the east with this U21 match at the Hammers' Rush Green facility topping the bill. With four wins from five, the hosts have been in great form of late and another win will push them further clear of the bottom three

Essex Senior League
Romford v Athletic Newham @745pm - if you prefer a non-league game then this local derby at Barking's ground should be a fine way to spend the evening

Saturday 11 February

Premier League
West Ham United v Chelsea @1230pm - a very busy day of top-flight action gets underway at lunchtime with this derby at London Stadium. Although still very much in the battle to avoid relegation, David Moyes' side picked up a precious point at high-flying Newcastle on Saturday. That result should give them renewed confidence as they prepare to welcome the Blues who have only won one of their last five. Some tickets appear to be available via the club's exchange service
Arsenal v Brentford @3pm - with some great results in recent weeks, some Gunners fans must have been starting to believe that this was going to be their year. Victory at struggling Everton on Saturday would've put them eight points clear but they lost 1-0. Fortunately, Manchester City lost at Spurs on Sunday so they didn't close the gap. It's not going to get much easier when the Bees arrive either. The west London club breezed past Southampton on Saturday and are top of the division's form table. Tickets are not available
Crystal Palace v Brighton & Hove Albion @3pm - after losing at Manchester United on Saturday, Palace are now winless in six. Not the kind of form you want when going into a match with your biggest rival, especially when they're flying. The Seagulls moved up to sixth on Saturday by beating Bournemouth and don't seem to be missing Graham Potter at all. Tickets are not available
Fulham v Nottingham Forest @3pm - two sides who came up from the Championship together at the end of last season have experienced contrasting fortunes. Like Brighton and Brentford, the Cottagers have had a cracking campaign and sit snugly in eighth. Forest looked like dead certs for relegation but the club kept faith in boss Steve Cooper and some fine recent results have seen them climb to 13th. Also, this part of south-west London has been good to them as they've won on their last two visits. Tickets

Championship
QPR v Millwall @3pm - if the Premier League doesn't appeal or the tickets are a bit pricey then this derby in the second tier should keep you royally entertained. The rivalry between these two has become pretty fierce over the last 10 years or so and there's usually a significant security operation in place around Shepherd's Bush. On current form, the Lions should win but a look at the record books says they haven't won at Loftus Road since 1989. There have been quite a few draws though and there were 3-2 and 4-3 wins for the R's in 2021 and 2020. Tickets
Watford v Blackburn Rovers @3pm - if the high-octane nature of the derby above isn't up your street, then there's a very decent alternative at Vicarage Road where two of the top eight meet. The Hornets could move into the top four if they win. Tickets

League One
Charlton Athletic v Fleetwood Town @3pm - their 2-1 win at Exeter made it four wins from five for the Addicks but given their poor start, they're still 10 points adrift of the play-off places. Lancashire club Fleetwood are on a worrying run of four straight defeats and teeter just above the relegation zone. A home win looks highly likely. Tickets

League Two
AFC Wimbledon v Carlisle United @3pm - the Dons went to leaders Leyton Orient on Saturday and gave a good account of themselves during the narrow 1-0 defeat. Next up are Carlisle who are third at the time of writing and looking to keep themselves in the automatic promotion places. Tickets

National League
Dagenham & Redbridge v Solihull Moors @3pm - with the Fifth Round of the FA Trophy also taking place on Saturday (no ties are in London), there's a very depleted look to the fixtures in the fifth tier. The only one in London is this midtable affair between the Daggers and Solihull who lost out in the play-offs last season. A win for the hosts could see them break into the play-off places. Tickets

National League South
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Slough Town @3pm - with new owners coming in at the Beveree, there's been a lot of upheaval behind the scenes in recent weeks. It's not going well on the pitch either, despite the installation of a new manager. Now without a win since the 19 November, Mel Gwinnett's side need to start picking up points fast. This match against The Rebels can probably be classed as a derby as they sit just outside London on its west side not a million miles from Hampton. The Berkshire club are just ahead of the hosts in the table, so both sides really need to get something

Southern League Premier South
Hendon v Winchester City @3pm - there's a relegation six-pointer at Silver Jubilee Park where two of the sides currently in the relegation zone prepare to scrap for three vital points.  Wins for relegation rivals Harrow Borough and Plymouth Parkway saw the Greens slide back into the bottom four after their defeat at Chesham on Saturday. There's a full programme of fixtures on Tuesday night which could put them back up the table but whatever happens then, this is still a hugely important game for both sides

Isthmian League North
Grays Athletic v Stowmarket Town @3pm - everything's much of a muchness in the eighth tier so I've gone for this match between two of the top seven in this division. After losing back-to-back matches against the top two, it appears Grays' title challenge is well and truly over. However, the big news to come out of the Essex club this week is the confirmation of their new groundshare at Tilbury next season. This brings to an end their 10-years at Aveley and sadly takes them out of TLFG's catchment area

FA Vase Fifth Round
Harefield United v Peacehaven & Telscombe @3pm - 586 clubs in the ninth and tenth tiers entered this season's competition, which has its final at Wembley, and now only 16 remain. Harefield are the only London club left. Usually out in the opening couple of rounds, the Hare haven't been this far since 1990 when they lost in the quarter-finals to eventual winners Yeading. Given that they're currently midtable in the CCL Premier North, they've done incredibly well to get this far. Sussex club P&T saw off Egham Town in the last round and should start as marginal favourites

CCL Premier North
Broadfields United v Wallingford & Crowmarsh @715pm - if you fancy doing at least a 'double' on Saturday then these two have brought forward a midweek game to Saturday night. Rayners Lane, whose ground they share, are also at home earlier in the afternoon so you could spend most of your day at Tithe Farm if you feel so inclined

SCEFL Division 1
FC Elmstead v Lydd Town @3pm - the pick of the games in the tenth tier looks like this top-six clash at Sutton Athletic's ground in Kent.

Sunday 12 February

FA Women's Super League
Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United @12pm - it's all about women's football on Sunday and the action gets underway early at the THS. From memory, this was supposed to have been played just after the Queen died so it got postponed. Fast forward five months and Spurs sit bottom of the WSL form table after another, albeit spirited, defeat to Chelsea. United, on the other hand, have turned out to be Chelsea's main title rivals but even they dropped points against Everton this weekend giving the Blues a two-point lead at the top. The smart money would appear to be on an away win

FA Women's Championship
Crystal Palace v Durham @12pm - neck and neck in midtable, the best either of these two can realistically hope for is to finish sixth. After a brilliant opening day win at London City Lionesses, Palace have only won four more games and are nowhere near the battle for promotion

FA WNL Southern Premier
London Bees v Portsmouth @2pm - with Oxford coming unstuck at Cheltenham, Pompey took full advantage and beat Gillingham to go top. Hosts London Bees lost at home to a struggling Plymouth side and slipped into the bottom four themselves

FA WNL Division 1 South East
Ashford Town (Middlesex) v London Seaward @2pm - with Hashtag United winning handsomely at Cambridge United on Sunday, the Essex club opened up an almost unassailable eight-point lead at the top. It's now really all about the battle to finish second and third. Sunday's results mean that only one point separates the teams from second to sixth and two of those sides meet here. As an Actonians fan who has seen them beat Ashford fairly comfortably twice this season already, I fancy the visitors to get something here and ultimately finish above them
